If we are not experiencing any troubles at this time, what error message are you seeing?

We couldn't sign you up

[For iOS users] You may be using an old version of our app for which email signup has been disabled. Please upgrade to the latest version or sign up with Facebook or Google.

Our robots think this signup/sign in looks too much like spam

If you're having troubles signing up to SoundCloud and keep seeing the error message below, this is because the location you're coming from is getting flagged by our anti-spam systems as suspicious. If you see this error message, try creating an account in another browser, from a different computer, different location, or a new email address!

**If you get this error on sign in, please check another device or IP to see if that causes the same issue.

When signing up, it says my email is already in use

It may be that you already have a SoundCloud account, and youdon'tknow it! This can happen when you sign up with Facebook, and it is connected to your email. Try signing in with Facebook, and see if you have an account.

On Web

To sign out of your account, click the three dots in the top navigation header, then select Sign out. You will then be directed to a screen that confirms that you have signed out successfully.

On Android

To sign out of your account from the android app, go to your Settings page and click 'Sign Out'. You will then see a pop-up that asks 'Clear User Data? You will have to re-connect your SoundCloud account'. Once you click OK, youll be successfully signed out.

On iOS

To sign out of your account from the iOS app, tap the person outline on the bottom of the screen. Then tap the More Options button (...) on the top right of the screen and select 'Sign Out'. You will then be successfully signed out.

SoundCloud supports a variety of file format codecs and containers, though we always recommend that you upload in a lossless HD format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC.

A picture is worth a 1000 plays

First impressions stick, design an attractive avatar and profile header thats easy to recognize. For easy recognition, consider emphasizing your profile name in the artwork. Remember your avatar appears on followers' Streams as a smaller version, simplicity translates nicely into different sizes; make it simple and eye catching. An easily memorable and recognizable artwork will help you get noticed.

Amplification

Sharing your SoundCloud profile to all your social networks online will further expand your fan base. One good turn deserves another, so make sure to do the same on your social networks, make your SoundCloud profile stand out on your blog, Facebook, and Twitter. Take advantage of your profile and track descriptions to give an introduction about you and your work, tell a story, and ask people to click the repost button if they like your content. Encouraging people to share your music will result in more shares than not telling them to do so, and this will lead to more followers.

Google search optimization

Google likes space. Instead of User123 make it User 123. Google also likes repetition. Repeating your Display Namein your Profile URL and linking to your other social networks will help you climb up the ladder on Google search results.

Build a network

Networking and collaboration is a two way street. The best way to gain meaningful followers is to be one yourself. Use the Search and Charts to find and follow like minded creators, listen carefully and give honest feedback often. Think quality over quantity, tailor your suggestions, constructive criticism, or praise according to each track and profile. Fellow creators will value your genuine contribution and will do the same for you.

Power of consistency

Even the best of profiles will go silent without dedication to consistency. Consistently being online and uploading fresh sounds often creates accountability, establishes a reputation, and will make you more discoverable.

If other users are searching for you on SoundCloud, make locating your profile as easy as possible for them by making your display name and profile URL clear, correct and concise. You can change your display name and profile URL byvisitingyour profile page viaa web browser on your computer and clicking the Edit button under your profile header. You can choose whichever display nameyou want. Be sure to display it as you would anywhere else, and feel free to include spaces and capital letters. To change your profile URL, click the little pen icon that appears beside your URL:

Please note:You can only use numbers, small letters, underscores, or hyphens in your URL.Changing your display name and profile URL is not available through our mobile apps.

What happens when you change your display name or profile URL

Your new profile URL and display name will be immediately searchable within SoundCloud, but may not show up immediately in Google search. This is dependent on Google refreshing its cache, and SoundCloud cannot influence this. If you change your profile URL, this will affect all links and embedded players you might have posted previously. Embedded players that were posted before August 2010 will be broken. However, embedded players posted after this time will still play your tracks, but if the listener clicks through to the SoundCloud page, they will be directed to an empty page. We do not offer redirect services when you change your profile URL.

We accept any images up to 2mb in size. For the best results, we recommend uploading a .jpg or .png of at least 800 pixels x 800 pixels. Square images look best for track artwork. You can add an image while your track is uploading by clicking the Update image button, and crop or zoom in before you save.

Its not possible to make your account entirely private. The following will always be publicly available to anyone that visits your profile:

Your profile artwork, description, and website links

Your likes

Your re-posts

Comments you've made

Who you follow

Who follows you

However, you do have the option to make all of your uploads and playlists private. This means that no one will be able to listen to your tracks without your explicit permission. You can read more about changing your track or playlist privacysettings here.

At this time we know if someone has pressed play on your track, and do not measure listening time.

If, after requesting a reset of your password, youdon'treceive a password reset email, do the following:

Check the Spam or Junk Mail folder.

Search for an email with the title Reset your SoundCloud password.

Wait five minutes for the password reset email to arrive.

Check your other email accounts, if any, for a password reset email.

We have a dedicated team of people who spend their time reviewing all reports objectively, using our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines and internal policies when moderating reports. Remember that we can only make decisions based on the information we have available to us. This means that we cannot accept reports of activity that happens externally from SoundCloud.

Please bear in mind that something that you find unacceptable, may not be unacceptable to everyone. We try to maintain a fair and balanced approach and will remove any content that violates these rules, or applicable law. Reporting content will not always result in that content being removed if it does not break the rules. Either way, we will always let you know the outcome of your report as soon as we can.

Here's how to do it:

iOS

1. On your home page, go to your collectionby tapping the icon on the lower right corner

2. Tap your profile image

3. Select Settings, here you will see a button for turning on the dark mode

Android

1. On your home page, go to your collection by tapping the icon on the lower right corner

3. Select "Settings", here you will see a section called "Theme"

4. Choose "Dark" on the theme page

Its important to understand that the email address used to originally create a SoundCloud account will be used to indicate ownership of the account for the duration of its existence. Therefore its advisable to take extra care when selecting the email address youre going to use when creating an account.

If youre signing up to SoundCloud with an email address, please note the following:

An email address can only be associated with one SoundCloud account at a time. It is not possible to manage multiple accounts from one email address.

The Email address you use on your SoundCloud account is not made publicly visible to others on SoundCloud.

We use the email you enter to confirm your new SoundCloud account, well send a confirmation email to do this. For this reason its important that you use an active email address that you have access to.

Please note that until the email address has been confirmed you will not be able to upload any content or images to the account.

What are SoundCloud Gifts?

You must be a SoundCloud Pro or Pro Unlimited subscriber.

You must have at least 500 eligible streams in the past month.

Monetizable streams come from at least one of these eligible countries: US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Austria and any other territories designated by SoundCloud as eligible.

You can share all of our embedded players directly to WordPress, there is no longer need for a specific code. First, click on your track or playlist's 'Share' button. Go to the 'Embed' tab to preview the embeddable player of your choice, then copy and paste the shortcode into a new or existing post or page on your WordPress site. Then, add the shortcode in the Text Editor. Make sure to put the code on its own line in your post.

If you have shared a private track or playlist, you have the ability to revoke access to the URL so it will no longer open for those you have shared it to. You can do this by clicking on the 'Share' button below your track or playlist's waveform. From there, you will see a 'Reset secret link' button.

Please note: Clicking this button will break the link for any recipients you have shared it to. There is no way to reverse this action. Your recipients will no longer have access unless you give them the new URL with the refreshed secret token at the end.

With SoundCloud Premier monetization you get revenue share that meets or beats other music services. As this is a revenue share model, the amount you get paid will vary each month, depending on how many streams you have generated. But the more your fans stream your tracks on SoundCloud, the larger your share will be so keep engaging with your audience and promoting your original tracks. Check out our Creator Guide for tips.

If you have signed in, butaren'tin your usual account -don'tworry. Your regular profile likely still exists. Try searching for it here, or type the Profile URL into your browsers search bar.

Did you sign in with Facebook or Google+?

If you signed in through Facebook or Google+ and created a new account, it may be that your regular profileisn'tattached to Facebook or Google+. Please do the following: Delete the new profile you have created through your Account Settings page. Sign into your regular profile using your email, or full Profile URL (ex: https://soundcloud.com/alex ). If you have created a new account on a mobile device, we do not have account deletion available through the app at this time. Please signout of the new account on the app, and into your normal profile. You can delete your duplicate account at any time by signing in via Facebook or Google+ through a computer browser.

Did you sign in with your email address?

If you signed in through your email and created a new account, this means that your regular profileisn'tattached to the email you think it is. Please do the following:

Delete the new profile you have created through your Account Settings page

Send a password reset link by inputting your Profile URL here. This will send a password recovery link to the primary email address that is registered to the SoundCloud account.

Search each of your email accounts for messages that come from [email protected]. The email that receives a password reset link is the one attached to your regular profile.

Signing in on a mobile device

If you have created a new account on a mobile device, we do not have account deletion available through the app at this time. Please sign out of the new account on the app, and sign into your normal profile through the steps above. You can delete your duplicate account at any time by logging in with your email through a computer browser.

Pornography is content that is predominantly sexual in nature, or that could be perceived as an aid to sexual gratification is not allowed on the SoundCloud platform. This includes, but is not limited to, images containing nudity and recordings or detailed descriptions of sexual acts.

SoundCloud aims to help creators to connect directly with their fans. We understand that promoting your work is important, and we encourage you to seek out fans and other like-minded individuals. In our experience, the most successful forms of promotion are built upon meaningful interactions between creators and their audience. However, there is a fine line between developing these connections and over-sharing with members of the community.

You can be blocked from accessing specific feature(s) on-site if you are doing any of the following:

Youre posting similar comments or messages from your account (avoid copy and pasting, or sending comments or messages with the same links over and over)

Youre following a lot of accounts in a short time period

Youre following a lot of people you recently unfollowed

Youre liking or reposting a lot of tracks in one day (make sure you listen to any sound before liking, or reposting it)

Youre liking or reposting a lot of tracks you recently removed from your likes or reposts

A number of community members have manually flagged your account, messages or comments as spam

Warnings

We have on-site limits in place to encourage the growth of genuine, close-knit communities around creators tracks. These limits look for accounts which appear to be using a feature in a way other than it was intended, and can block access to that feature. Our anti-spam systems are automated, and focus on detecting accounts who are making large numbers of the same activity within a 24 hour period. When you are being warned that you may end up in a block soon, you will see this message:

When you see your first warning, you must acknowledge it by clicking Yes, I understand before you can carry on using the feature. Please note, if you continue to use the feature after agreeing that you understood the warning that you received, you may end up in a block.

Blocks

Ifyou'vereceived and accepted a warning before, any time you hit this on-site limit again, you will be blocked from using that feature. You will receive a message similar to this one:

If you are in a block, it means that for a period of time you will be unable to use the feature. The length of this time period depends on whether or not you have been in a block before. The more often you run up against the same limit the longer that block will become, and it will tell you when the block will expire in the block warning. Please note: no matter what subscription level you have, we cannot manually remove any blocks - this is to ensure fairness for all of our users.

SoundCloud Premier monetization is currently only available for original music made by yourself. Covers, remixes, mixes, DJ sets, audio recordings or podcasts are not monetizable at this time.

It is not possible to pause a subscription. However, you can opt out of automatic renewing by going to your account's Subscriptions page and clicking on the Editicon:

Follow the prompt 'Don't want to renew your plan?" to confirm that you would like to stop your recurring payment. If you are pausing a Pro or Pro Unlimited plan and your subscription ends, your settings and tracks will be saved. If you are over the 180 minute limit for Free users, some tracks will be temporarily hidden until you upgrade again. You can always purchase a new subscription later through our Pro page.

To get an embed code for your track or playlist, click the 'Share' button below the waveform and an overlay will appear. Click on the embed tab to view what options you have to embed your player. Copy-paste the embed code from 'Code & preview'. Next, copy the code and paste it into the HTML editor section of your sites editor. From there a player will form and you can check how many plays you get from your website or blog through your Stats page if you are a Pro or Pro Unlimited member. Note:You no longer need a specificWordpress code to embed your player on a Wordpress site. For more information, please read here.

Each SoundCloud account is allowed one money back guarantee period for Pro/Pro Unlimited subscriptions.

You are on a yearly payment cycle

If you are currently on a yearly Pro subscription but want to upgrade to a yearly Pro Unlimited membership, you will be charged a pro-rated difference between the two prices. We will subtract the monetary value of the Pro days you have left from the total Pro Unlimited price. To upgrade your account, please go to our Pro page and select the Pro Unlimited option.

You are on a monthly payment cycle

If you are a monthly Pro user, your current purchase will not count towards a monthly or yearly Pro Unlimited plan. Please wait until just before your next monthly payment of your Pro plan is charged. Then, visit our Pro page and select the Pro Unlimited option. You will be able to specify your monthly or yearly Pro Unlimited preference on the following page.

How do I change my profile image?

You can add or change your profile image either directly on your profile page, or through your profile edit page using your computer.

Scroll over the current image, and click Update image. From there, choose the file saved on your computer and click Save. Profile avatars are circular in order to differentiate from track and playlist artwork.

There is not a way to delete a profile image from your account. However, if you are unhappy with your profile image, you can easily change it to something else.

We accept any images up to 2mb in size. For the best results, we recommend uploading a .jpg or .png of at least 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels.Once you have selected an image to upload you have the option to drag the image left or right or to zoom in and out ofthe image in the circle.

Note: It is currently not possible to edit your profile picture/banner on Android mobile devices

Changing your profile image on iOS

On your iOS device, you can change your Profile image by following these steps:

1. Go to home page to go to your collection page by tapping the icon on the lower right corner of the home page

2. Tap your profile

3. Tap the 3 dots on the upper right corner

4. Tap edit profile and then your profile image

5. Select the image you would like to upload and save

Profile Header

You can upload a Profile Header Image directly from your profile page. For best results, upload JPG or PNG images of at least 2480 x 520 pixels with a 2MB size limit. Please avoid using text within your Header Image as it will be cropped on smaller screens. Once you have selected an image to upload you have the option to drag the image up and down or to zoom in and out on the image. If you do not have the ability to zoom, then this is because your image is less than 1240 x 260 pixels.

If you want to replace or delete your current image, then you just need to click the Update Image button. If you delete your image, the Profile Header Image will return to a gradient based upon the colors in your profile image.

Because the rights afforded by copyright law are exclusive to the copyright owner(s), you will infringe copyright if you make use of the copyrighted work without the permission of the copyright owner(s) - for example, if you copy or adapt a copyright work, or make it available on the internet.

The best way to avoid copyright infringement is to ensure that youdon'tuse anything created by someone else. Simple as that.

If you do use someone else's work, make sure you have the necessary permissions this will usually take the form of a license from the copyright owner(s), which you may have to pay for. There are certain instances where you may be able to use excerpts of copyrighted material without a license for example, if you use a small part of someone else's work for the purposes of criticism or review, or if your use constitutes "fair use" under applicable law (particularly U.S. law) however, discussion of these exceptions is beyond the scope of this guidance. If you intend to use any part of a copyright work in reliance on any of the statutory exceptions, you should seek legal advice first.

If you have any doubt regarding the extent of your rights in any tracks, you should consult with a suitably qualified lawyer before uploading anything to SoundCloud or making any claims or counter-claims regarding your rights. However, as a general guide, here are some of the issues you might want to consider before uploading something to SoundCloud:

For uploads containing musical works:

Can you answer yes to all of the following questions?

Did you compose the music yourself?

Did you write the lyrics yourself?

Did you record and produce the track yourself or do you have permission from the producer or record label that made the sound recording?

Do you have written permission from all copyright owners to use any samples contained in the track?

Can you answer no to all of the following questions?

Were you signed to a record label when you recorded the track?

Do you have a publishing deal?

Are you a member of a performing rights organization or collecting society?

Haveyou licensed your track to anyone else?

Does the track contain the entirety or any part of someone else's song(s) Is it based on someone elses song(s)?

For other tracks, including field recordings, podcasts, audiobooks or voice messages:

Can you answer yes to all of the following questions?

Is the recording spontaneous, as opposed to being recited from a script, play or book (other than one written by you)?

Is it a recording of your performance?

Did you make the recording yourself?

Do youhave the permission of anyone else appearing in the recording to upload and share the recording on SoundCloud?

Can you answer no to all of the following questions?

Is the recording rehearsed or recited from a script, play or book (other than one written by you)?

Does the recording contain any music or excerpts from other copyright works (e.g. movie dialogue)?

What if I uploaded the track as private, isn't that okay?

Even if it is for your own personal use, youwon'tbe allowed to upload a copyrighted track to your SoundCloud profile as a private track, as it is still possible to share private tracks to other listeners.

If you wish to have an official release of yours on your SoundCloud profile, then you can mark a Playlist as an Album, EP, Single or a Compilation. This will then show up under the Albums tab on your profile.

Just go to the Playlists edit page and edit the Playlist type section accordingly :

Youll need to set a release date for your Album, hit save and then youre good to go.

There are a number of reasons why a track you may have previously played on SoundCloud might not be playable any longer. These reasons include:

Track deletion orremoval: The track has been deleted by its owner or removed from the platform for copyright infringement.

Privacy Settings: The track has been made private by its owner. If it was a private track already then the secret token may have been changed by the user.

Over upload limit: The user who uploaded the track may have gone over their upload limit, or their subscription may have lapsed, causing any tracks over the Basic plan's limit to be hidden from listeners.

Account suspension ordeletion: The uploader's account may have been deleted by its owner or removed for breaching our terms and conditions in relation to spam, copyrights, abuse etc.

Blocked in your region: It may be that the original uploader does not have the necessary rights to make a track available in your territory. As a consequence the track might not be available in your region.

Incorrect URL: The URL may have been misspelled or included an extra character.

You can change your playlists title and URL through the edit page. You can access the edit page at any time by clicking the pencil icon below the waveform.

Clear playlist titles help your fans know exactly whatthey'relistening to. Avoid duplicating information thats displayed elsewhere. Playlist titles must be between 1 and 100 characters, and support for emojis is not available at this time.

Please note: Changing your playlist's title or URL will not changethe tracks within the playlist.

Browser and OS compatibility

You might encounter difficulties when uploading if you are using an older browser and/or computer, so we recommend keeping things up to date. We do encourage users to use Google Chrome or Firefox to have the best SoundCloud experience.

Confirmed email address attached to your account

In order to upload, you must first confirm the email address attached to your account. If you did not receive an account confirmation email, please check your spam folder.

If you still have not received this, please send yourself another one through your Settings page.

Time left on your account

Each SoundCloud plan has its own upload allowance. For a Free user, you can upload a total of 180 minutes (3 hours). A Pro user can upload a total of 360 minutes (6 hours) and a Pro Unlimited user has no upload limit at all*. Learn more about our Pro plans here.

What type of file can I upload?

We recommend you to upload in a lossless format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC. We also support a large variety of lossy formats, including OGG, MP2, MP3, AAC, AMR, and WMA.

The maximum file size is 4GB. If your file exceeds these criteria, please split it into separate uploads.

We transcode all tracks to various codecs which are optimized for streaming playback. We want to preserve your work, thats why we recommend you upload uncompressed or lossless audio files to ensure that the transcoding process results in the best possible quality. When you make your track downloadable, however, this allows your listeners to download your track in the same format you uploaded it in, without any additional transcoding.

Will my file be available for streaming in high quality?

If you upload a stereo file in a lossless format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC, well transcode it in a high-quality format optimized for music streaming like AAC 256 kbps.

We recommend you to upload in a lossless format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC. If you can, the bit depth and sample rate should be 16 bit and 48 kHz respectively.

When you upload a track on SoundCloud, we optimize it for streaming. As part of that process, we resample and transcode it to a high-performance codec. These codecs are highly optimized, but they can increase peak levels, which can cause clipping. We recommend that you leave between -0.5 and -1 dBFS of headroom to prevent artifacts like clipping during transcoding. Make sure to check the resulting stream in the rare case where more headroom is required.

When uploading, how long can a single file be?

To be uploaded successfully onto SoundCloud, your track cannot be longer than 6 hours and 45 minutes.

Sometimes you may see a Our robots think youre spam or "Our robots think you're a robot" error message when trying to log in or sign up.We have a number of systems in place to stop spammers from signing up or logging in. It looks like there was something about your sign up or login attempt which triggered these systems and which prevented you from accessing SoundCloud. What if I want to use a different browser, like Tor?

SoundCloud has limited support for Tor Browser, meaning that you can login to existing SoundCloud accounts. However, you will not be able to sign up for a new account.

After authentication, you will be presented with a Google Captcha. Once solved, you should be signed in to your account.

If a track has been taken down from your account, it has either been recognized by our content identification system as containing copyrighted material or reported to us by a third-party who claims copyright on it.

In this second step of the disputing process, we need you to clarify who created or owns the content youre uploading. This allows us to verify whether or not you are entitled to have this content on your account.

Important: Please note that ownership does not mean owning a digital, CD or vinyl copy of the track. It means owning the copyrights for the track.

4. Entirely someone elses creation

Choose this option if you did not create this track yourself, or if you bought it online or got it as a free download.

At SoundCloud we take the security of your account very seriously, and we want to make sure you know what it takes to keep your account safe. Heres our safety tips for registering an account with SoundCloud (or any other service):

Choose a strong, unique password

DO NOT use the same password across multiple sites, and keep your password to yourself. DO choose a random string of at least 8 characters, including upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters. The sender may then use this information to hijack your account, typically to use it to send out spam or more phishing attempts.

It is not possible to merge two SoundCloud accounts into a single account. However, you can always delete one of your accounts and upload any tracks from the deleted account to the active account you wish to keep. The only drawback of doing this is that the stats and comments from the tracks you re-upload will not carry over.

Will my Cue Points, Loops, Flips etc. work on my SoundCloud content as well?

Yes, once you set Cue Points, Loops and Flips on a track from SoundCloud the data will all be saved and next time you stream the SoundCloud file, all of these will be there.

Can I search for tracks from SoundCloud in Serato DJ Pro and Lite?

DJs can use the Serato DJ search bar to search music from SoundClouds catalogue. To do this, click the SoundCloud icon next to the search bar. The SoundCloud icon turns blue when SoundCloud search is active. Local results from the all crate will be displayed first followed by results from SoundCloud. You can tell which songs are from the SoundCloud catalogue as a small SoundCloud icon will be visible in the first column of the library.

How do I see Key, BPM and a waveform overview for SoundCloud tracks?

When you load a SoundCloud track to deck the entire audio stream will be downloaded. Once the download is complete, Serato DJ will quickly analyze the file and provide you with track information. All this information will be saved and displayed in your library.

Where can I find my own created playlists within Serato DJ Pro and Lite?

Your personal created playlists are at the bottom in the Playlists and Albums column inside the DJ library.

Can I create and edit SoundCloud playlists from within Serato DJ Pro and Lite?

No, but you can always do this directly from your SoundCloud profile.

Can I record my sets in Serato DJ Pro with tracks that I am streaming from SoundCloud?

At this point it is not possible to record sets with tracks streamed from SoundCloud.

Can I stream SoundCloud tracks while offline?

At this stage there is no ability to save SoundCloud tracks and play them while offline. You must have an active internet connection to stream SoundCloud tracks from your instance of Serato.

Can I access my Likes from SoundCloud inside the app?

At this point Serato DJ does not support syncing with your SoundCloud Likes.

Why am I not being offered a Go+ trial from within Serato

This may happen if you were subscribed to SoundCloud Go+ in the past.

Can I add tracks to crates within the Serato DJ apps?

At this point adding SoundCloud tracks to crates is not supported.
