Executive Bio
Mr. James David Cecil has been an Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Southwestern Energy Company since August 2017. Mr. Cecil served as Managing Director of Financial Advisory and Head of North American Exploration & Production at Lazard Ltd. since May 17, 2012. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Unified Office, Inc. He served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Scotia Waterous (USA), the oil and gas arm of Scotiabank, where he co-led the U.S. energy investment banking practice. He has advised oil and gas companies on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions since 1998. Prior to joining Scotia Waterous in 2007, he served as Managing Director of US Energy & Power Group of BMO Capital Markets at Bank of Montreal. He joined Caleo in March of 2000. Prior to Caleo, he served as Vice President of Enron/Azurix Corporation and was primarily responsible for North American mergers & acquisitions (M & A). He also participated in the launch of Enron/Azurix's Internet-based water-trading site Water2Water.com. From 1996 to July 1999, he worked for CIBC Oppenheimer and Wheat First Union/Bowles Hollowell Conner/First Union Securities in corporate finance and M & A. He worked for Merrill Lynch in its corporate finance group. Mr. Cecil holds a BBA degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Duke University.
