View ArticleIf you receive an error that says "NotAllowedError", this usually indicates that you have not granted permission to allow Spark Hire to access your media devices (camera and mic.)
Solution: This can be solved by allowing permission to access your media devices by clicking on the padlock icon on the far left side of the address bar and setting the microphone and webcam permission to Allow.
If you receive an error that says "NotFoundError", this means that your media devices (camera and mic) are not properly connected to the computer.
Solution: This can be solved by checking to ensure the device's connection to the computer is secure. If the device appears to be connected, trying another USB port may help. In many cases, simply restarting your computer will solve the issue.
If you receive an error that says "NotReadableError", one of two things could be happening; either another application is accessing your media devices or your media device's driver may have crashed.
Solution: Make sure you close all other applications that access your media devices such as Skype, FaceTime, YouCam, etc. We also recommend restarting your computer before re-entering the interview.

BrowserThe most recent versions of the following browsers are supported: Mozilla Firefox Google Chrome Safari Internet Explorer (Microsoft has documented known issues with Internet Explorer and video streaming. Thus, this is our least preferred browser.)3. Internet ConnectionA good internet connection is required for a successful Live Interview. It is suggested that you are directly connected to the internet through a cable not via WiFi. Using a direct connection will ensure that you have the best possible bandwidth available and reduces latency issues to a minimum. This will result in better picture and audio quality.4. Microphone and SpeakersMicrophone volumes are important when participating in a live video interview. Getting the most out of your interview can require some changes to your microphone input and sometimes your speaker volumes. When beginning your Live Interview, it can be helpful to keep your microphone volume low, and adjust it once you have entered the interview. It is also helpful to keep your speaker volume low when you first begin, and adjust it after entering your interview. This can help reduce echoing during the recording.5. Using a HeadsetA headset can reduce feedback from your speakers entering an open microphone. If you experience a lot of echoing and have adjusted your microphone input and speaker output, another alternative is to use a headset or headphones. This separates the audio coming from the speakers and your microphone and can improve the interview experience in some situations.6. Other ApplicationsClose applications other than Spark Hire that use your webcam and microphone. These applications such as Skype and FaceTime may interfere with Spark Hire's ability to leverage your webcam and microphone.

View ArticleWhat is a live video interview?
A live video interview is very similar to a standard video conference or chat (e.g. Skype.)
The difference is that you'll be interviewing directly in your web browser and don't need to exchange usernames. You'll also be entering a professionally branded interview experience with the organization you're connecting with.
What should I do if I need help with my video interview?
If you need assistance, please contact our support team by submitting an inquiry here. We respond 24x7 so we'll be sure to get back to you as soon as we can!
In addition, if you'd like to test your equipment and connection before your interview, please please reach out to set up a time to speak with a member of our team before your interview.
Is there anything specific I should know?
There are a few things we recommend to ensure you have a successful interview.
Make sure your web browser is up to date with the latest version. We recommend using Google Chrome.
Get the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. This isn't necessary for all live video interviews, but we recommend doing it either way.
Hardwired internet is preferred over wireless internet (WiFi) as the connection is more stable. If you can only use WiFi, ensure that no one else is using the network for activities that take up a lot of the bandwidth available to use (e.g. streaming Netflix.)
Minimize the number of programs that are running on your computer to ensure your device's computing power isn't limited
Close applications such as Skype or Facetime that use your webcam and microphone so they don't interfere
What are some tips and best practices?
We recommend that you treat a live video interview very similar to an in-person interview. Dress and act professionally, enter your interview on time, and make sure that your background is clean and organized. We also suggest sending a thank you note to the organization you are interviewing with after the completing of the interview.
