What do people at Sparkle think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
The CEO does not know the ins and outs of a cashier job, and is sometimes unrealistic in his expectations.
How's the vacation policy at Sparkle?
One week paid vacation after you've been there a whole year. I don't know when or how to get more weeks, other than to just stay.
How much and how often do raises happen at Sparkle?
I have not gotten a raise since they raised minimum wage to more than what I was making.
How's the work pace at Sparkle?
Work pace varies. Sometimes we are so slow, and other times, everyone comes to checkout at once.
What's the best part of your job at Sparkle?
Putting on a happy face and making every customer remember me.
How secure do you feel at your job at Sparkle?
No one does my job as well as I do. I'm pretty secure.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at Sparkle?
Do well on the math test, and come to interview dressed appropriately.

Word of mouth. There is no suggestion box.

I wish I had a job I could do at home, or that Sparkle would pay me what I think I'm worth.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Sparkle?
Not at all. I get to know my customers, and some become friends.
What kind of people succeed at Sparkle?
People who do their job without complaining all the time are more happy about working here.
What are the team outings like at Sparkle?
I don't participate in team outings, as they are not toddler friendly.
How challenged are you at Sparkle?
I like being given new tasks, instead of just standing in the same spot all day ringing customers. The managers are getting a taste if what a "jack of all trades" really is.
How's the morale at Sparkle?
"I love my job" is heard every day. Some hate coming in to work. Computer system is a little crazy, so that makes the operators a little more crazy.
How much diversity is there among employees at Sparkle?
There have been ethnic hires but they don't stay. We are predominantly white bunch of folks.
What's the office layout like at Sparkle?
Not enough room for everything that needs to be in there.
What unique perks and benefits does Sparkle provide?
Manager works me around my schedule, as I have a small child in the house who goes to daycare.
What's the pay like for Sales roles at Sparkle?
I make 8.30 after 2 & a half years.
What's the vibe like in the Sales dept at Sparkle? How many hours are you working?
I work 5 six-hour shifts per week. I look forward to working with most of my team, but there are a few coworkers that just annoy and irritate me. At least one messes with my OCD every time they work. Very childish.
How's the leadership on the Sales team at Sparkle?
A few department managers need lessons on how to treat people, but the general managers are pretty nice.
What's the Sales team like at Sparkle?
Friendly, helpful people, both male and female. Chatty, even when busy.
How's the work life balance at Sparkle?
My manager understands that I have to put my child in daycare and I can only be available during certain hours.
What are your coworkers at Sparkle like?
At least one of our deli girls was caught picking her nose while wearing gloves. Our produce manager will sell moldy fruit and rotten potatoes in order to not take a loss in profit. other management is helpful and friendly. Some cashiers don't have good work ethic. But some do.
