Mr. Samuel J. Gesten, also known as Sam, J.D. has been the Chief Legal Officer of STAAR Surgical Company since April 6, 2017. Mr. Gesten has been Corporate Secretary of STAAR Surgical Company since April 5, 2012 and served as its Vice President of Business Development since May 2014 until November 30, 2017. Mr. Gesten served as Corporate Compliance Officer and General Counsel of STAAR Surgical Company since April 5, 2012 until April 6, 2017. Mr. Gesten served as Vice President of STAAR Surgical Company since April 5, 2012. He served as an Executive Vice President at Allergan Inc. since August 1, 2010 and serves as its General Counsel. He served as an Assistant Secretary at Allergan Inc. Mr. Gesten joined Allergan in June 2009 and served as its Senior Vice President until July 2010. He spent 11 years with Thermo Fisher Scientific where he served as Vice President and General Counsel of the Laboratory Equipment Group and served on the group's leadership team. He was also responsible for Thermo Fisher's corporate online legal training. Mr. Gesten has over 23 years of experience in the management of domestic and international legal affairs and leads Allergan's global team on all legal matters as well as supporting Allergan's Board of Directors and senior management. Mr. Gesten serves as Vice-Chairman of the Allergan Political Action Committee for Employees. Mr. Gesten graduated from Boston University School of Law in 1987, where he was a Paul J. Liacos Scholar and received an economics degree, cum laude, from Brandeis University.
