Mr. John E. Estes is a Partner at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He joined the firm's New York office in 1995, became a Partner in January 2002, and is now resident in the Melbourne office. Mr. Estes' practice areas are corporate governance, financial institutions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, privatizations, project development and finance, securities, strategic finance, structured finance, and banking. He has focused his practice in the areas of capital market transactions, project finance, joint ventures, acquisitions, and other commercial transactions primarily in Europe, Latin America, Australasia, and the United States. Mr. Estes has acted on a large number of SEC-registered, Rule 144A, and other private debt and equity transactions, including a number of initial public and secondary equity offerings, convertibles, structured debt and equity financings, and privatizations. His project finance experience has centered on the natural resources and oil and gas sectors and mining industries in South America and Central Asia. Mr. Estes has also represented clients in the financial institutions, telecommunications, health care, manufacturing, and retail sectors, including a number of major Australasian companies and governmental entities, as well as investment banking clients. He is admitted to practice in the State Bar of New York. Mr. Estes' speaking engagements include events at The Australian Finance and Treasury Association on May 4, 2005 and at the Counsel to Counsel - Global Best Practice Forum on October 21, 2004. He has received a J.D. in 1995 from the New York Law School and a B.S. in 1986 from the University of Buffalo.
