William A. Plapinger, Bill serves as a Partner at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. Mr. Plapinger also serves as the Coordinator of Sullivan & Cromwell's European offices and served as Managing Partner of its London office, where he has been located since 1987. He has an active client practice that focuses on securities, M&A and general corporate matters, with particular emphasis on complex, often precedent-setting, international and U.S. financial transactions (in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, as well as the United States), advising industrial and financial companies, governments and investment banking firms. Mr. Plapinger has extensive experience in equity and debt financings, both SEC-registered and exempt (including under Rule 144A), by U.S. and non-U.S. entities. He has been named by numerous publications, including The American Lawyer, Chambers, European Legal 500, International Financial Law Review, Legal Business, Legal Experts and PLC Which Lawyer as, variously, one of the world's leading capital markets, international equities, IPO, M&A and privatization lawyers. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of Vassar College, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American School in London. Mr. Plapinger received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1978 and A.B. degree from Vassar College in 1974.
