What's the office vibe like at Swift Navigation?
Top Employee Response
Swift takes deliberate steps to ensure that the office environment is conducive to engineering work and concentration in general. Management, engineers, and everyone else know all about "flow" and as a result try to structure spaces and schedule meetings to allow engineers (and others) to concentrate.
Awesome - people put their heads down and work and people are considerate of those who are working. But there's a lot of opportunity to collaborate, converse, joke and sometimes party, and that keeps the place from being a morgue.
The office environment is great. We have a very diverse culture. Many languages are spoken and it's fun to get to know people from all over the world. We do a lot of fun things as a team, like frequent team lunches, happy hours, hackathons, outings (sailing, skiing, bowling, hiking, rock climbing, running) and celebrations for milestones, birthdays and holidays.

How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Swift Navigation?
Not difficult
its not
Swift is an established startup and going thru a major growth inflection. As such, it has pushed thru its 'grind' years and is now establishing its stride. This means that people work hard but they also make time to play hard as well. It isn't an established company where someone might put in 7-8 hrs a day only but it also isn't driving people to work 10+ hrs a day every day including weekends. It is a startup on a high growth trajectory with ambitious goals but also understands the value of happy employees who are not over-worked or stressed out.
