Executive Bio

Mr. Gregory J. Allen serves as President of Cigna MidSouth Markets at Cigna Corp. Mr. Allen served as President of Tennessee Market at Cigna Corp. since August 18, 2015. Mr. Allen has leadership responsibility for the products and services Cigna offers in the state of Tennessee, including employer-based group benefit plans and also plans offered to individuals and those who are eligible for Medicare. His primary areas of focus is to enhance customer satisfaction through personalized service; help improve health and affordability by developing Tennessee-specific programs and collaborations with health care professionals. Mr. Allen served as the Chief Operating Officer of HealthSpring Inc. He served in several leadership positions at Cigna-HealthSpring, joining HealthSpring when it was first formed in 2000 and continuing in a leadership position after Cigna's acquisition of HealthSpring. Most recently, Mr. Allen served as the leader of the Alabama and Tennessee markets and previously as HealthSpring president of the Tennessee market, one of its largest Medicare Advantage markets. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of the market's operations as well as financial performance and business development. Before joining Cigna-HealthSpring, Mr. Allen was director of finance for HealthSpring's predecessor company, North American Medical Management, a physician management company. During his career, he also held financial analysis roles with Prudential Health Care and Aetna U.S. HealthCare. Mr. Allen is a graduate of the Nashville HealthCare Council Fellows program under the direction of Senator Bill Frist and Vanderbilt University' s Larry Van Horn. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Abilene Christian University in accounting in the year 1988 to 1992. He subsequently became licensed as a certified public accountant in Texas.
