Executive Bio
Mr. Thomas R. Kassberg, also known as Tom, has been President of Dimension Therapeutics, Inc. since November 7, 2017. Mr. Kassberg has been Chief Business Officer and Executive Vice President since Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. since November 2011 and January 2016 respectively and served as its Senior Vice President November 2011 until January 2016. Mr. Kassberg is responsible for leading Ultragenyx's business development and corporate strategic planning activities, as well as the human resources and legal affairs functions. He has more than 20 years of industry experience in corporate strategy and business development in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. He served as the Chief Business Officer at Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since September 4, 2009 and led its business development activities. Mr. Kassberg served as a Senior Vice President of Business Development at Array Biopharma Inc. Prior to Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, he served as an Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Proteolix, Inc. (now Onyx Therapeutics, Inc.) and oversaw its business development, corporate strategic planning and legal affairs. He also consulted with Corium International, Inc. and Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Kassberg served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Commercial Operations at Intermune Inc. from January 2006 to July 3, 2007 and also served as its Head of Corporate Development and Senior Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Strategy from August 17, 2004 to July 3, 2007. At Intermune, he oversaw the commercial team responsible for in-line sales of Actimmune(R) and pre-launch planning for late-stage products and led strategic corporate planning including its signing of a collaboration agreement with Roche for itsprotease inhibitor compound. Mr. Kassberg co-founded Plexxikon, Inc. in December 2000 and served as its Vice President of Business and Corporate Development from December 2000 to July 2004. In this role, he helped to establish Plexxikon's initial operating plan and raise early rounds of venture financing in addition to leading its corporate. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Kassberg served as Senior Director of Business Development at SUGEN Inc., and later as Senior Director of Corporate Licensing for Pharmacia, Inc. Mr. Kassberg began his career at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, where he served in various commercial functions, including strategic planning, financial analysis, business development and managed care sales. Mr. Kassberg received his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and his B.A. in Business Administration from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.
