Mr. Louis Sylvester Hughes, also known as Lou, has been the Chief Operating Officer of Universal Electronics Inc. since November 1, 2016. Mr. Hughes served as Executive Vice President of Americas at Universal Electronics Inc. until November 1, 2016. Mr. Hughes served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Product Management - Americas at Universal Electronics Inc. Mr. Hughes Co-Founded SimpleDevices Inc. in 1999 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He also Co-Founded Supplybase Inc., a provider of web-based supply-chain management software and services. Prior to Supplybase, he founded Enclosures Engineering, a producer of high-volume, high-quality, EMI-shielded plastic computer parts. He has prior experience working with Craig Janik at Speck Product Design as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. His history in the electronics industry also includes ten years working for General Electric in a variety of manufacturing, sales and management positions. During his last three years at GE, he managed the GE Plastics Global Business Industry group, with P&L responsibility for major worldwide business equipment accounts including Apple, HP, Sun and others. Mr. Hughes received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in 1986, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1989 and an MBA from UC Irvine in 1993.
