We'd recommend filing your change of address form at least 2 weeks prior to your move as it typically takes the USPS between 7-12business days to process mail forwarding requests.

Once they've finished processing your request,you'll receive a USPS Confirmation Letter in the mail and begin seeing your forwarded mail a few days later.

Please note: It can take up to 10 business days for the USPS to redirect mail from your old address to your new address. If it's been more than 10 business days since receiving your USPS Confirmation Letter, you'll want to contact your local post office (at your old address) for additional assistance!

For your start date, you'll want to select the date that you will be moving to your new address as this essentially tells the USPS on what date they should stop delivering mail to your old address and begin redirecting mail to your new address.

Please note: It can take up to 10 business days from your start date to receive your first piece of forwarded mail. During this time, the USPS is redirecting your mail from your old home to your new home.

If you need to cancel your moving reservation, please reach out to your moving company.

Sorry to hear that! Lets fix this. Since the postal service can take up to 12 business days to begin forwarding your mail, be sure that enough time has gone by without indication that new mail is arriving.

If its been longer than 12 business days, email us and well look into it for you. If we notify you that its a postal service issue, youll have to contact your local post office at your old address. We can also refile your change of address form on your behalf!

Since most utility providers require secure information (such as your social security number) in order to open, transfer or close an account, we aren't able to transfer your service at this time.

Instead, we'll show you the utility providers who service your new home. We'll even link to the online service request form (when possible) to ensure that you are waiting on hold as little as possible.

While the majority of addresses that are classified by the USPS as Commercial are business addresses, it's not entirely uncommon for multifamily properties (such as apartment communities or fraternity houses) to be classified as Commercial as well since mail is oftentimes delivered to the same place (i.e. the leasing office).

Unfortunately, Updater cannot process change of address forms for commercial addresses at this time. However, if you would still like to forward your mail toa commercial address, you are able to on the USPS website.

Keep in mind, the USPS unable to process change of address forms fromcommercial addresses.So, what should you do if your old address is classified as Commercial? You'll want to utilize our Update Your Accounts feature to seamlessly notify any of over 15,000 businesses of your new address.

If your address appears to be commercial on Updater but is not, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and we would be happy to look into it for you!

It sounds like the billing information on your credit card might not match either the old or new address on your Updater account. Unfortunately, this is a security condition required by the USPS so we won't be able to verify your identity with this credit card.

In terms of the $1 charge, have no fear! Oftentimes, your bank will put a temporary hold of the amount since a charge was attempted but that will go away within the next few days.

Deadlines for switching over your insurance in a new state will vary by state. However, it's always best to complete this step as soon as possible to avoid any penalties.

No marketing companies will receive your information from Updater. We take security very seriously and pledge to take every possible precaution to ensure that your personal information is safe.

However, if you select the maximum of 12 months of mail forwarding, the postal service will make your address available through their National Change of Address (NCOA) list. As a result, mailers and marketing firms that know your name and old address will now have access to your new address.

If youdon'twant this to happen, we recommend temporarily forwarding your mail for about 6 months. We can help you do this simply choose 6 months as the length of time for mail forwarding on your Change of Address Form.

Head on over to the Contact Utilities step and you'll be able to view all of the utilities that service your new zip code.

At Updater, the more the merrier! You are able to manage updates for everyone in your household under the same Updater account. If all the parties moving with you are coming from the same old address, you are can file forms for each individual moving.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to delete a move from your Updater account at this time. The good news? Creating a new move on Updater is a piece of cake. Simply log back into your Updater account here, clickon your name in the top right corner and selectI'mmoving again.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble logging into your Updater account! If you cannot remember your password, you can always reset your password via email by following this link.

From there, you will be able to enter the email address on your updater account, and a password reset token will be sent to that email address. Simply choose a new password, and you're all set!

If you haven't yet verified your identity, you'll see a red banner near the top of your Updater dashboard reminding you to do so.

Don't see the red banner but just wanted to triple check? No worries! You can always click on your name in the top right corner of your screen and select Move Summary.

This page will show you the status of your pending account and/or address updates. As long as nothing is listed as Unverified, you're good to go and can do ahead and cross one more thing off your to-do list.

Keep in mind - canceling your Updater account will mean that you won't be able to use Updater in the future for your next move.

Once the USPS has finished processing your mail forwarding request, they'll be sending you an official USPS Confirmation Letter to your new address. Your USPS Confirmation Number will be included in that letter so keep an eye out for that in your mailbox within 1-2 weeks of submitting your mail forwarding request. You'll want to keep this letter handy as this is the number you can use to edit or cancel your mail forwarding request in the future.

Haven't yet received your USPS Confirmation Letter but would like to check in with the USPS regarding status of your mail forwarding request? No problem! Just stop by your local post office, provide them with your photo ID, and they'll be able to help you out.

First things first, head on over to the Forward Your Mail step to find out if your change of address form(s) have already been processed or not.

If your change of address form still shows a status of Pending, this means it has not yet been sent off to the USPS for processing. Click on the Cancel link to ensure your mail forwarding form does not get sent. If you click on Edit, you'll be able to update the name, USPS form type, start date and duration for mail forwarding. If you would like tomake a change to your address, just reachout to our Customer Experience team and they will be happy to make any edits for you.

NOTE: If you are using a mobile device, you may have to scroll over to the right in order to see the Edit or Cancel buttons.

If your change of address form shows a status of Completed, this means that the USPS has already received your change of address form and we can no longer make changes or cancel on your behalf. You'll need to stop by your local post office and provide them with a photo ID for verification in order to make changes or cancel.

If you believe that cable and/or internet is included in your rent, we'd recommend reaching out to your property directly to confirm the process for getting these services turned on in your new home.

Cant find what youre looking for? No problem!After reserving your move, simply let the moving company know about these items so that they can account for them on their end and update your quote accordingly.

We need to verify that you are who you say you are via phone, therefore, weve implemented a few security measures that affect the kinds of phone numbers we accept.

We can only accept:

Landlines

Cell phones with a carrier account/service provider

We cannot accept the below for security reasons:

Pre-paid cell phones

Google Voice numbers

If you've confirmed that you are using a valid phone but are still receiving an error message, it likely means that you broke your security token when claiming your free Updater account. Not to fear! Just reach out to our Customer Experience team and we'll help you complete the process.

After selecting a package that meets your criteria, there are still a few remaining steps including scheduling your installation appointment and, in some cases, running a credit check if required by the service provider. In addition, there are some additional promotions that our agents can help identify for you beyond what you've selected within Updater.

If your building mentioned a preferred or featured provider and it is not listed, simply give your Updater moving specialist a call and they should be able to track it down for you. You'll find their phone number listed in the Tv & Internet step.

Thats up to you. You can specify how long youd like to forward your mail for maybe its temporarily for 2 months, or maybe its the maximum allowed time of 12 months. If you select the maximum of 12 months of mail forwarding, the postal service will make your address available through their National Change of Address (NCOA) list. Update Accounts

To get started, simply head on over to the step on your dashboard and select the type of account you'd like to update.

From there, begin typing the name of the organization in the search bar and click the correct item to add to your list. Dont be shy you can update as many accounts as youd like.

When you are done adding items, click the Submit Updates button. You can always login to your account at any time to check the status of these updates or add new ones.

Absolutely! When verifying your identity, simply enter your landline phone number and be sure to select "Call My Phone" as the delivery method.You'll receive a call shortly with your pin, which is then used to confirm that you've verified your identity.

If you notice the address information on your account is incorrect, you will be able to update your address when claiming your Updater invite or when submitting your mail forwarding request.

Already submitted a mail forwarding request or need more help updating your address? No problem!Just shoot us an email with the changes you'd like to make. If we haven't already filed your change of address form, we'd be happy to edit your address for you!

If you decide to not forward your mail, you'll need to make sure that you notify anyone who sends you mail of your new address. Otherwise, mail will continue to arrive at your old address. This includes everyone from your frequent flyer program and magazine subscriptions to your friends and family members.

Luckily, Updater makes this process super simple. Simply use our Update Your Accounts step to seamlessly notify any of over 15,000 businesses of your new address or our Share Your New Address step to send a fun moving announcement to the people you care about.

You can definitely still use Updater without a cell phone. Your cell phone is only required for identity verification and we do have two other options for verification in case your do not own a phone. You can verify your identity by using a landline phone for no charge or verify by using a credit card for a $1 fee.

You can log back into your Updater account at anytime to check the status of your updates. If the status for The New York Times reads Sent you can be sure that they were notified successfully. Just a reminder even though we successfully notified The New York Times, wecan'tguarantee that they properly updated their records.

Updater is here to make moving simple, so no more long trips to the post office or $1 charges for your mail forwarding! When you use Updater, forwarding your mail is is free using a valid mobile or landline phone.

Of course, if you do not have a mobile phone, you can definitely still verify by credit card. That process will be similar to the USPS and includes a $1 fee.

Of course! To start a new move, simply log back into your Updater account, click on your name near the top right of your screen and select "I'm moving again."

Updater takes the specific details of your move and connects you with an insurance expert who can help you secure the coverage you need at a great price. Updater partners with insurance agencies that are specialists in choice, certain geographies, and coverage combinations.Updater's Insurance Division only showcases partners that have been personally validated and can offer our users comprehensive insurance solutions.

At this time, we are unable to update the address on your current policy. However, a new address means your premiums are likely to change. It may be a good time to shop. If you want to update your policy please contact your insurance provider directly.

Oh no! We can fix that. Sign into your Updater account and click the red banner thats alerting you to verify your identity, re-enter your phone number, select to receive your code via SMS/Text and try again. There is also a "resend code" link on that page in case you are still having trouble!

If your property requires residents to show proof of renters insurance prior to move in, please reach out to your property directly.

If you lose your reservation number, you can do one of three things:1) Check your inbox! You should've received a confirmation email from us which includes your reservation number shortly after selecting your desired package.

2) Click back into the Tv & Internet step on your Updater dashboard to view your reservation number.

3)If all else fails, have no fear! Simply give our moving specialists a call and they'll be able to look up your reservation for you - it just make take a few extra minutes!

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty logging into your Updater account! We've included some of the most common reasons as to why this would happen, however, please don't hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

Make sure you're logging in here and entering the email address exactly as it is listed on your Updater account. You can double check your "Welcome to Updater" email (or other emails) to verify.

Make sure you've actually finished claiming your Updater invite. If you don't remember completing the signup process, you'll want to locate your Updater invite and click the special link in that email to get started. Having trouble locating your invite? The USPS offers mail forwarding as a way to redirect any mail addressed to you at your old address and re-routes this mail to your new address. This helps catch any mail from senders that may not have your new address on file just yet!

Keep in mind, mail forwarding is completely optional and is not needed for all moves. Not sure if you need mail forwarding? Not a problem!

You do not need to forward your mail if:

You're moving to or from an international address

Your old address is classified as Commercial

You want to continue receiving certain mail at your old address

Your new address is not yet finalized

You have already updated all your accounts and told friends and family your new address

1. Legal written authorization. This may include an Executor.
