Christina Ackermann — Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International

Ms. Christina M. Ackermann has been Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. since August 08, 2016. Ms. Ackermann served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Alcon, Inc. until 2016, where she was responsible for the Legal, Intellectual Property and Compliance functions. Ms. Ackermann served as the Head of Legal and General Counsel of Sandoz International GmbH, the generics division of Novartis from April 2007 to 2012. Prior to joining Valeant, Ms. Ackermann was part of the Novartis group of companies for the past 14 years. Ms. Ackermann served as Head of Legal General Medicine of Novartis Pharma since July 2005. She first joined Novartis in 2002 as Head of Legal Technical Operations and Ophthalmics. She served in Associate General Counsel roles with Bristol-Myers Squibb and DuPont Pharmaceuticals, as well as in private practice, where she focused on securities and mergers & acquisitions work. She is a Member of numerous committees and international bodies, including the EGA, the New York Bar and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Ms. Ackermann has a Post Graduate Diploma in EC Competition Law from the University of London in the UK and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen's University in Canada.
