John Joseph Hendrickson — Director of Strategy & Director at Validus Holdings

Mr. John Joseph Hendrickson has been Director of Strategy at Validus Holdings, Ltd., since August 10, 2017. He founded SFRi, LLC and serves as its Managing Partner. He has nearly 25 years of experience as an investment banker and investor focused primarily on the insurance industry. Over his career, he established an extensive background in corporate development, corporate governance, private equity and investment banking. He served as the Managing Director of Fox-Pitt, Kelton Inc. from 1995 to 2004. He served as Director of Strategy, Risk Management & Corporate Development at Validus Holdings, Ltd. since February 15, 2013 until May 18, 2017. He served as a Member of the Executive Board of Swiss Re and Head of Swiss Re Capital Partners's merchant banking Division from 1998 to March 2003. Mr. Hendrickson served as an Executive Officer of Capital Partners/ Asset Management of Swiss Re Ltd. Prior to Swiss Re, he served as the Managing Director and Co-Head of the insurance investment banking group at Smith Barney, where he provided corporate finance, merger and acquisition and other strategic advice to clients primarily operating in the insurance industry with a focus on middle market and emerging growth clients. Prior to that, he was responsible for Securitas Capital, a private equity fund in which Swiss Re serves as the sponsor and lead investor. He has been a Director of Validus Holdings, Ltd. since October 2005. He serves as a Director of CX Reinsurance Company Limited and several insurance & financial services companies. Mr. Hendrickson serves on the Board of Directors of San Francisco Opera. He served as Member of Advisory Board of Tawa Plc since June 21, 2012 and served as its Director from June 2007 to June 21, 2012. He served as a Director of United America Indemnity, Ltd. since December 2003. Mr. Hendrickson received a B.A. in History and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1983.
