Mr. Amit K. Sachdev, J.D., has been Executive Vice President and Chief Regulatory Officer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since January 2017. Mr. Sachdev served as Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since January 2017. Mr. Sachdev served as Executive Vice President of Global Government Strategy, Market Access and Value at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since October 2014. Mr. Sachdev served as Executive Vice President of Policy, Access and Value at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since October 2014. Mr. Sachdev served as Senior Vice President of Global Government Strategy for Market Access & Value at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since February 2013. Mr. Sachdev manages Vertex's global market access, health economics and outcomes research efforts for its approved and pipeline medicines. He also oversees Vertex's government affairs and public policy activities. He served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Public Policy and Commercial Business Lead, Canada at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated since July 2007. He joined Vertex in July 2007. He served as an Executive Vice President of Health at Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) from April 2005 to June 2007. At BIO, he served as a Senior Executive and was responsible for managing BIO's Health Section, its Governing Board and for directing health care advocacy, including the development and execution of policy that was key to life science member companies. Mr. Sachdev served as Deputy Commissioner for Policy at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration FDA from April 2004 to April 2005, where he also held several other senior appointments beginning in 2002 Prior to that, he served as the FDA's Senior Associate Commissioner for Legislative Affairs. Prior to FDA, Mr. Sachdev served as a Majority Counsel to the U.S. House of Representative's Committee on Energy and Commerce from 1998 to 2002 and was responsible for matters relating to bioterrorism, food safety and biotechnology and environmental policy. Previously, Mr. Sachdev practiced law at Ropes & Gray and the Chemical Manufacturers Association from 1993 to 1998. Mr. Sachdev received a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a J.D. from the Emory University School of Law.
