Brett Shirk — Senior Vice President of Americas Region and General Manager of Americas Region at VMware

Mr. Brett Shirk has been Senior Vice President and General Manager of Americas Region at VMware, Inc. since November 1, 2016. Mr. Shirk is responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy and management of VMware's business in Latin America, the United States and Canada. He has more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry, with a successful background that includes global sales organization and process design, executive business planning to meet complex and changing market needs and building strong customer and partner executive relationships. His work spans several vertical industries including automotive, financial services, pharmaceuticals, power and energy and manufacturing. He joined VMware from his most recent role of senior vice president of the Americas Sales Organization for Veritas Software. He served as a Senior Vice President of North America at Symantec Corporation. Mr. Shirk was responsible for developing Symantec's business with commercial customers in the United States, including global responsibility for key Financial Services, Pharmaceutical and Automotive companies and was responsible for its business operations in Canada. He served as an Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales of Veritas since April 2015 until February 2, 2016. Prior to that, he held a number of sales and leadership roles at Veritas, Symantec and BMC Software. Before joining Symantec, Mr. Shirk served as Regional Sales Manager for BMC Software responsible for identifying and developing its business in Michigan. He is recognized as a leading Information Technology Professional, with expertise in complex solution design, customer relationship management and strategic messaging. He is a graduate of Texas A&M with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
