Wattpad FAQs

On Wattpad, you have the option to close your account at any time. If you do end up closing your account, please be aware of the following:

You must be able to log into your account to close it

Closing your account is only available on the web

When you close your account, you are giving up your username. If someone creates an account with the same username, you will no longer be able to restore your original account

You may be able to restore your account by signing in again, which will automatically re-open the account, you can learn more in Reopen Account.

Your closed account can show up in Google results for several weeks afterwards

Closing your Wattpad account will result in losing access to your:

Libraries, or reading lists

Private and public messages

Comments

Personal written works

Username

Click on your username in the upper right-hand corner

Scroll to the bottom of the page

Click on Close Account on the right-hand side

Fill in the mandatory information

Check the box saying Yes,I'msure. Please close my account

Enter in your password

This feature is not available on the apps.

To check an accountis closed

If youd like to double-check that your account has been closed:

Type in https://www.wattpad.com/user/yourusername replacing 'yourusername' with the username of the account that you just closed.

If you've closed your account, then you should get a 'User not found' page.

Do not sign into your account again; this will reopen your account through self-restoration: Reopen Account.

If you have further questions or concerns, please let us know.

When verifying your email address or resetting your password, you should receive an email from us. This email is sent to the email address that is linked to your Wattpad account.

If you are not receiving the email, please make sure to

Check your spam folder

Make sure Wattpad is on the safe senders list

Wait at least an hour, as the email might have been delayed

You are looking at the right email account (see Changing Your Email to check the linked email)

NOTE: You can test if an email is linked to a particular account by entering it at www.wattpad.com/forgot If you receive an email to that account, you know it is linked!

The Wattpad community is a safe and positive environment and all Wattpadders are encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions in respectful and appropriate forms. Discussing opinions on works, conversing with others, and developing new ideas together are all great ways to interact on Wattpad. In some cases, however, disputes can occur and may result in users being reported.

If you would like to report a user forcyber-bullying, harassment, or inappropriate content, please follow the steps below:

On the web:

Visit the profile page of the user you would like to report.

To the right of the 'Follow' button there are three dots. Pressing them will open a drop-down menu. From here, please press 'Report

Select one of the provided reasons for which you are reporting and press 'Next'.

Provide further details as to why you are reporting, and where we can find this content, and press 'Submit Report'.

The report will reach the Wattpad Trust & Safety team, where it will be reviewed. We will follow up with you on the status of your report.

On the iOS app:

Visit the profile page of the user you would like to report.

Press the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear. From here, please press 'Report.'

Select the reason for reporting the user, and provide more details on the issue.

Press 'Report' in the top right-hand corner. The report will reach the Wattpad Trust & Safety team, where it will be reviewed. We will follow up with you on the status of your report.

On the Android app:

Make sure to include as much detail as possible, including any additional information, usernames, and story links, part titles. If at anytime you feel that your personal safety (or the safety of someone else) is at risk, please contact your local law enforcement immediately.

What happens after I report a user?

Each report that is submitted is reviewed and the appropriate actions are taken. In some situations, there may not be a notification of the resolution for the ticket.

There are many tools in place to help empower the community to resolve issues on their own and forge a strong sense of connection with other users. Always remember that reports are anonymous and safe and should be used when a situation has no resolution that can be reached between Wattpadders involved.

How do I mute a user?

Wattpadders are empowered to resolve personal disputes in private. By using the mute button located on each profile, you can prevent two-way communication between you and that person. For more information read this guide on How to Mute a User.

If you're looking at another Wattpadder's profile and are getting a User Not Found message, this could be because:

The user's account is closed

The username is incorrect and doesn't belong to a Wattpad account

The user might have muted you. You can learn more about muting in the article Mute or Unmute a User

If you're seeing this screen, we recommend double-checking the username to make sure you're looking for the right user.

In the event that you discover your child possess a Wattpad account and they are under the required age of 13, you can request assistance from Wattpad to close your childs account. To do so, there are two options, based on your ability to access the account.

If You Have Access To The Account:

If you are able to log in to the account, have control over the account through the app, or are otherwise logged into the account, you can close it at any time. You can use this guide on self-closing an account. Be advised that the account can be automatically reopened if someone attempts to log into the account.

If You Do Not Have Access To The Account:

If you are unable to log into the account, or do not have access for whatever reason, you can still submit a report to us through the following steps:

You will need to have the email linked to your childs account, and access that email account.

Send an email to [email protected] with the Subject "Closing My Underage Childs Account," using the email linked to the account.

Provide in the email a link to the account or the username of the account you wish to have closed.

Provide a statement that you are the parent of the account owner and wish to close the account as the owner is under the age of 13.

Hopefully this helps with managing your childs use of Wattpad.

Ifyou'veever changed your mind about editsyouve made to a story part, you can restore older versions of your stories through revision history. If you're missing content from your part, it's always helpful to check the revision history on both the app and the web just in case.

Troubleshooting

If youre having trouble finding a specific revision, please make sure to check the web and app version. If you're still unable to find your missing content, please from the email linked to the account with the story.

If you're having issuesrestoring your account, try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Invalid Username

If you are unsure of your username, try logging in using the emailthat was linked to your account to sign in.

Step 2: Username is taken

Search for the username you want on Wattpad like this, replacing "yourusername" with the username you're looking for: https://www.wattpad.com/yourusername

If a profile page is being displayed that isn't yours, it is because another user has taken the username, and you will not be able torestore your account.

Step 3: Email is taken

The email on your closed account might already be linked to an active Wattpad account.

To check if the email is linked to an active account, go to www.wattpad.com/forgot and type in your email address.If you receive a password reset email this is because this email is linked to an active account.

Please note, you can not have more than one active account with the same email! You willhave to change the email on the active account or close the active account to restore your closed account.

If none of the above applies to you, please submit a ticket through support by clicking here and we will be happy to assist you.

Have you ever wondered what parts of your account are visible to other users and which parts canonly be seen by you?

Profile

Your profile can hold a lot of information about you. While sections are automatically public, you have the ability to hide some parts from other users.

Your profile picture, username, and display name are by default,public.

If you add a location to your profile, it will be public.However, if you wish to keep this private, you must delete the location from your account in your Account Settings.

In your Account Settings, you have the option to make your date of birth public or private. There is also anoption to link your personal Facebook, Twitter or websiteto your account, and these links will be displayed as public.

Library/Archive

Your library and archive are private. However, stories in your library can appear on your Home page in the form of recommendations.

You cannot dismiss or delete stories from your recommendations.

Reading Lists

Your reading lists are all public. They cannot be made private.

They can appear as recommendations and are displayed on your profile.

Stories

Your published stories are, by default, public.There is no way to make them private.

Story drafts are private.

Search

Your search results are private to your account. You candelete a result, but there is no function to clear your entire search history at once.

On Android: press the 'x' next to a search result to delete it.

On iOS:swipe the search result to the left, then tap 'Delete'.

You cannot clear 'recommended searches'.

Story rankings are determined by a sophisticated algorithm which takes into account factors such as the popularity, trendiness and user engagement of a story, plus the relevance of the tags used and when the story was last updated by the author. If the support for the story trails off over time, its ranking will decrease. Its important to remember that the ranking system is just one of the ways to keep wattpad fun, interesting and different.

Great question and probably one of the most popular on the platform!Stories are automatically promoted all across Wattpad through our hot lists, recommendation modules, algorithms, and in peoples newsfeed. When someone votes on your story, it tells all of that persons followers by appearing in their newsfeed, and this means you can focus on writing your amazing story and not have to worry about hitting a switch to get on those spaces.

Some stories are selected by Wattpad staff for promotion in additional spaces, such as Wattpad Picks. Theyre always combing through Wattpad searching for content, but if you want to submit your story for consideration, you can find out more about how to do that below.

How does it all work?

Wattpad promoted stories are lovingly hand-picked by our Content & Creator Development team, and they are given the opportunity for promotion across the platform. This can mean a number of things, including:

Being added to one of our Wattpad Picks lists

Added to a promoted home module/appearance on the home screen

Added to curated recommendations for readers

And many more!

There is no specific time frame for when or how long your story is promoted, as we want to maximize the exposure for your story in a way that makes sense. Stories will be given a reasonable chance and would not be added and removed within a day, for example.

What are we looking for?

If you believe your story has what it takes, you can fill out an application to be reviewed by us. Your story can have any number of reads, votes, or any other activity and still be eligible! Heres some criteria that were looking for:

Compelling stories that appeal to readers, and have their own distinct voice, style, or spin. Something youcan'tput down!

A degree of care and quality, free of obvious typos or consistent grammar errors that make it difficult to read.

Minimum 10,000 words to submit, or must be a completed short story or poetry collection if less than 10,000 words. Make sure you mark your story as Complete in the Story Details section.

The same story cannot be submitted more than once within 3 months. However, you can apply with multiple stories at the same time.

If the story is ongoing it must demonstrate a consistent, reasonable update routine.

Stores in the Random category may not apply.

You can only apply with your own stories and cannot nominate another writer.

Individual applications will not receive responses. If you are selected for promotion, you may be notified through private messages or through your notifications. Note that while the application puts the story in front of us, we may still promote stories that havent applied if they meet our criteria.

If you are verified and are still unable to vote, you may have exceeded our voting limit of 100 votes every 24 hours. In this case, please try voting again in 24 hours before sending in a support ticket.

If you have waited 24 hours and are still unable to vote, click on a platform below for specific troubleshooting steps.

Toggle your wi-fi/data connection off and on again, or try connecting to another wi-fi network.

Try logging out and back into your account, making sure to completely close the app.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

On the Web

Turn your wireless/wired connection off and on again, or try connecting to another wi-fi network.

Try logging out of your account, clearing your browsers cache/cookies, and logging back in again.

Try accessing your account using a different browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome.

On Wattpad

The Wattpad community is extremely supportive. Here are some tips to get Wattpadders to read your story:

Follow other writers and read their work. Get an idea of what they like, and tell them what you like about their work. Constructive feedback is always good, and the more of a presence you have on Wattpad the more likely they are to check your work out.

Acknowledge follows. When someone follows you, send them a quick message and let them know how much you appreciate it.

Respond to comments and suggestions on your work and story.

Engage others in conversation. Does someones story remind you of a song, video, photograph or personal experience? You may have more in common with others than you think.

Ask for advice. If you ever find yourself needing help, just ask nicely!

Use short or catchy titles. Titles that are too long will give away the whole story, which will less likely entice Wattpadders to read your work.

Update your fans. Keep your fans and profile updated with your latest activity. If youre going to take a break from writing or need help with anything, your profile is a great place to let others know about whats going on.

Remember to add a story description (plot synopsis). This is your readers first entry into your story.

Keep chapters short (2000 words). Remember that most Wattpadders are on mobile devices and read on-the-go.

Serialize. Post 1-3 new chapters a week. Better yet, maintain a regular posting schedule. Be transparent so your readers know what to expect. In the story description, for example, say New chapters every Friday!".

Include a call to action. Talk to your readers in the text of the story. Remind them to vote and comment on each chapter, or ask an open-ended question to start a discussion in comments.

End on a cliffhanger. Keep your readers guessing.

Ways to attract more people to your profile

A few things you can implement and use, and that really stand out as helping people find you and your stories are:

Linkany relevant social media to your profile, such as Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. The more connections that are made, the more easily people will find your Wattpad stories.

Whenever you're mentioning Wattpad in other places online, be sure to link back to the Wattpad source, as it makes us, you, and the stories you love much more visible. Every time you add a link you make things more discoverable. The more links placed, the more visible you become, and the more readers you'll find to read your stories.

In the Community forum

Join a thread and meet new people! We have many different threads that cater to both readers and writers.

You can share your stories by visiting the 'Share Your Story' section and selecting the genre that your story belongs in, then checking out the different threads in that genre that apply to your story.

Some writers have found it helpful to team up and edit each others work. You can find friendly advice, writing tips, or serious critiques in the Story Services section.

Do you like making art and helping other people? You can also get other Wattpadders to notice you by asking others if you could make covers or book trailers for their work in the Story Services section.

On Social Media and Other Websites

Facebook

Like Wattpad on Facebook and use your own Facebook account and status to encourage your friends to check out your work.

Promote your work and get advice from other Wattpadders on the Wattpad Facebook page. Its a great place to meet other Wattpadders, with many comments, questions, and recommendations posted each day!

Twitter

Link your Wattpad profile to your Twitter account. Every time you tweet about yours or others work, you'll be promoting stories to all your followers.

When you tweet your story be sure to also include hashtags such as #wattpad or #wattpadlife. Users looking for stories on Twitter often search through these hashtags. This is also a great way to get your name out in the Community!

There are many Wattpadders on Twitter who can re-tweet your messages to their Twitter followers to help you out.

Blogs

If you have a blog, let your followers know whenyou'veposted something new and how your writing is going. Recommend other writers you like (and let them know you've done so). They may return the favor!

Email blogs you follow and ask if they will profile you and/or your work. Bloggers are often looking for new ideas, and they are always happy to hear from followers.

Wattpad has some widgets you can add to your blog to promote your work as well. You can find these on your profile page!

Other Sites

Are you on other sites like Tumblr or Pinterest? These are also great places to let others know about your work on Wattpad. Remember to always include a link!

Make quote art to share on all social media sites!

Friends & Family

Your friends and family are great resources for getting people to notice your work on Wattpad. You can ask them for help:

They can recommend and share links to your work on Facebook, Twitter, or through their blog.

They can send emails or messages out to their contacts, letting them know about your work and how amazing it is!

In order to create an inclusive and respectful space, we want to ensure our Wattpadders know what type of content they will discover as well as content they can or cannot post!

Before you take off on your writing journey, please take a peek at the following guidelines:

Its important to respect and protect fellow Wattpadders feelings, property, and personal information.

You shouldnt post anything you might regret in the future, or that your peers, family, or teachers might not want to see online.

Rating Your Story

All creators are expected to rate their stories as either Mature, or for Everyone, according to the guidelines provided below. If you come across a story that has been rated incorrectly, you can let us know by reporting it (see our guide here ). Please note that we will change your rating if it does not comply with these guidelines.

Mature Rating

Marking your story Mature does not mean that it can contain prohibited content. Stories that contain prohibited content will be removed regardless of their rating.

Mature stories are intended for an audience that is 17 and up. There are restrictions on discovering Mature stories on Wattpad that help ensure they reach the correct audience. A story may be rated Mature if it contains any of the following:

Explicit sex scenes

Self-harm themes or scenes (including suicide and eating disorders)

Graphic depictions of violence; including but not limited to: sexual, verbal, emotional and physical abuse.

If you feel that your story fits our guidelines, but may include parts thataren'tappropriate for younger readers, please rate your story Mature.

What We Remove

The following are not allowed on Wattpad. This is not a complete list, and we have the right to remove any content that we find inappropriate. Any content that could put our community at risk will be removed. Wattpad has the right to close any account or remove content without notice.

Sexual Content on Wattpad

Pornographic Content.Wattpad considers content to be pornographic when it exists solely for the purpose of sexual stimulation.

Age of Consent.The age of consent is 16+ on Wattpad. Any sexual content between characters must abide by this age of consent and not be in violation of Canadian Law.

Glorification of Sexual Violence.Wattpad classifies non-consensual sexual acts to include rape, sexual assault, kidnapping for sexual purposes, or sexual slavery. The content cannot be encouraging or promoting of non-consensual sex acts.

Sexual Roleplay or Messaging.Wattpad does not permit sexual messages or solicitation. This includes posting content which encourages sexual private messages, on or off Wattpad, or posting rules for public or private roleplay that are intended for sexual purposes.

Illegal Sex Acts.In accordance with Canadian Law, any content which encourages illegal sex acts including, but not limited to, bestiality or necrophilia, will be removed.

Media on Wattpad

Media on Wattpad includes images, videos, gifs, and sound clips. To help keep Wattpad a safe space for everyone to create and discover content, we may remove images thatdon'tfollow our Content Guidelines. The following Media is not allowed on Wattpad, and will be removed:

Media containing full exposure of any private parts, such as genitalia, breasts, and buttocks.

Media displaying sexual intercourse, or any other sexual act, regardless of whether private parts are visible.

Media displaying self-harm or suicide.

Images of people posted without their consent, except for public figures and celebrities.

Any other media which captures an illegal act.

If you see the following indicator Crisis Referral Form on one of your uploaded images, it means that the image in question appears to violate one of our Content Guidelines and is no longer publicly accessible by your readers on Wattpad.

Self-Harm on Wattpad

If you are struggling with eating disorders, addiction, self-harm, thoughts of suicide, or other challenges, we want you to know that you are supported.

We also recommend trying out the- an anonymous chatting tool that can provide resources and support for a variety of different challenges and difficulties.

Keep in mind that reading about self-harm and suicide can be upsetting or triggering. Thats why we want to remind you that:

Content that encourages or gives instruction on self-harm will be removed.

Content that contains lots of description might be rated Mature, and stories that glorify or do not tell a story might be removed.Telling a story means the work must have a plot unrelated to the self-harm scene/s, or must show a progression or growth in its characters.

We want to encourage healthy discussions about these issues, so content about recovery, survival or that portray the negative consequences of self-harm are acceptable on Wattpad.

Violence

There are many forms of violence that can be harmful to our community. We will remove any content or accounts that are intended to shock or disgust our community.

Hate Groups/Extremist Content

At Wattpad, we are committed to keeping our community safe. We value diversity and storytelling, so we want to make sure that the stories being told on Wattpad do not contribute to real-world harm. The following guidelines have been developed in order to maintain a positive community. On Wattpad, you are not allowed to make physical threats of violence or threats of death towards any individual or group of people. We will not allow stories or individuals that glorify, praise or romanticize current real life violent hate groups, figures, or extremist organizations with violent or hateful intentions. This includes:

Groups that express a violent mission.

Organized hate groups.

Terrorist activity.

Single event mass shooters/murderers.

Talking about Others

Sharing opinions on stories and the quality or style of writing is ok. We aim to create a safe community for everyone on Wattpad, so be kind, respectful, and please treat others as you would want to be treated, sodon'tpost any content that:

Bashes a user purely for personal reasons.

Reveals any personally identifying information about other people, including private messages, photographs/videos.Due to the fictional nature of stories and the chances of real names being used coincidentally, we are unable to remove a work for having the same or similar name to a real person. Only if there is additional identifying information, such as the city you reside or your work/school, is there a violation of our content guidelines.

Actively promotes violence or hatred. The promotion of hatred on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation, or content that is intended to bully, threaten, or harass others, is also strictly prohibited.General expressions of opinions are allowed, but they cannot be violent in nature or encourage others to attack Wattpad community members.

Spam

Any content that advertises products or services unrelated to, or not sanctioned by Wattpad is not permitted and will be removed.

Wattpad has a limit of being able to follow only 1000 users. Once you have reached this limit of 1000 users, you will not be able to follow any more users. Please note that the following limit can be different for users that have more followers. These limitations are to prevent spam.

If you have reached the limit, you will have to unfollow other users to be able to follow more people. There are special circumstances where Wattpad Stars will be able to cross this threshold.

Troubleshooting Steps

If you are still unable to follow new users and are well within these limits, then please try out the following:

Try logging out and back in, making sure to completely close the app.

Toggle your wifi/data on and off or try an alternate Wifi/Data connection.

Inline Media

Inline Media are images, GIFs and videos in the story text. There is a limit of 20 images/GIFs or videos in the text per story part.

How will I know if my images have been flagged as inappropriate?

If you are on the Web, Android (7.16.0 and later), or iOS (8.36.0 and later)and your image is flagged as inappropriate, the following indicator here will appear:

Regardless of the platform you are using, you will receive a private message from Wattpad. On earlier versions of the app, the image(s) will still be visible to you when you are viewing your story, and there will be no indicators. If you believe your image was flagged butaren'tsure, please check your private messages or review the image on our Web version.

The indicator will remain on your story until the image is removed.

If my story is published and my images are flagged, what will my readers see?

If your image is flagged as containing inappropriate content, the image will not appear to readers when they are reading your story. Your image will be removed from the reading experience, and there will be no indication that there was an image there.

What if I mark my story as mature?

Mature stories still need to follow our Content Guidelines. If you're unsure what type of media is allowed on Wattpad, please read these guidelines to make sure that your media follows them.

If my image was flagged as inappropriate but Idon'tthink it should have been, what should I do?

If you believe your image was flagged in error, you can appeal it using our appeal flow.

When will these changes take place?

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for a report to be effectively generated in my story?

To maximize the effectiveness of the Story Insights tool, your story must be written in the English language and published on Wattpad. Poems and poetry follow a different set of rules for writing and therefore aren't currently eligible for the Story Insights Report.

Please also note the following recommendations:

While having a Completed story is not a requirement, the minimum length of your story should be around 3,000 words.

The tool only takes published parts into account. Any parts you wish to have reviewed should be published on Wattpad, and not in your drafts until the time you have received your Report.

You should ideally only include published parts that you consider completed, excluding content such as authors notes, cast and character descriptions, playlist recommendations, etc. for the purposes of the Report.

How often can I purchase the Story Insights Report?

You can purchase one Story Insights Report for one story in a single order. If you wish to purchase the report for multiple stories, you will need to place a separate order for each report. How often is it recommended to run the report to improve my writing?

We recommend running the report each time you make significant edits to your story. This may include writing new parts, editing the writing style, or incorporating the feedback shared in your previous Story Insights Report. Running the report with a repeated frequency after making major edits will allow you to compare your progress over time, bring focus to areas of improvement and help you develop overall as a writer.

Does the Story Insights Report check for spelling and grammar?

The Story Insights Report does not check spelling and grammar for you. It focuses on more unique metrics that are not available within common word processing tools.

Does a low score mean I am a bad writer? A low score should not be directly inferred as an indication that you are a good or bad writer. So you want to run a writing contest on Wattpad? Well, you're in luck. We've got some tips and tricks to help get you started so you can attract more entries and make your contests easier to find and join for other Wattpadders.

Create a story to describe your contest to the community.

Include information on rules and prizes, and pick a unique tag for entries (something like #youngwritersprize or #taygetsthegay).

Tag your story about the contest with #wpcontests so other Wattpadders can find it.

Now that your contest is set up, it's time to spread the word. By sharing on Wattpad and other social media, you will get more entries and more attention for your contest. You can also remind your participants to spread the word.

If people like the contest, consider making a recurring one: either weekly, monthly, or annually.

Eligibility & restrictions: Is your contest open to all countries and ages?

Methods of entry: Make sure you state how a Wattpadder can enter your contest. The two main ways of entering are through commenting or writing contests with tags. With tags, suggest a unique hashtag for your contest (such as #taygetsthegay) and instruct Wattpadders to add it to their story submission. For comments, ask them to leave a link to their story in the comment section so you can easily locate all submissions. There are also comment to win contests, where the best comment wins a prize.

Content: Specify what type of content is allowed (what category, what rating) and how long submissions can be.

Deadline: Include the length of your contest with clear start and end dates. Wattpadders come from all around the world, so be sure to include a clear time zone.

Prizes: Let participants know if youll be giving away a prize for the contest winner(s). Prizes can not be monetary: they can range from a follow to a story critique.

Judging: Indicate who your judges are, if you have them.

Read and review Wattpads before starting your contest to ensure that your contest doesnt violate them.

The Mute button is located on each users profile and can be used to disable two-way communication between you and that person.

How doI mute or unmute someone?

Goto the user's profile.

Click or tap on the three dots '...' (or three vertical dots on Android)

Select 'Mute User' or 'Unmute User'

What happens when I mute someone?

If you mute someone, they will not be able to send you an inbox message, write on your profiles message board, or leave any comments on your stories. While muted, you will also be unable to contact them through these channels. Please also note that if you mute someone, they will still be able to read and vote on your stories.

On web and starting on version 8.26 for Android and version 8.22 for iOS, if you mute someone they will not be able to view your profile.

If I mute someone, will they be notified?

No, they will not be directly notified. If they try to view your profile or contact you through the channels listed above, a pop up message will appear simply stating that they cannot interact with you.

Ive muted someone, but they are still bothering me.

The mute button is designed to empower the community to resolve minor disputes and differences on their own. In some serious cases, muting someone may not be enough.

If you have muted someone, but they are still finding ways to provoke or attack you, you can report them by submitting a ticket to www.wattpad.com/help.

How do I know if I have been muted?

Users can write their stories offline on iOS and Android apps and your drafts will be saved locally to your device. Please be sure to connect to wifi or data to ensure the drafts save to the Wattpad servers once you are done! If you log out before syncing your work with a strong connection, you can lose the progress you made, so please make sure that you don't log out after writing offline without saving your work online first!

If you're having trouble finding any content you wrote offline, first try checking your revision history.

Please note: Android users cannot edit pre-existing story parts offline but you can createnew story parts and save drafts from there.

The Ambassadors are a group of Wattpad users who volunteer with Wattpad to support the community. Where can I get help from a Wattpad Ambassador?

You can ask your general Wattpad questions on the official Ambassadors page. Please note that Wattpad Ambassadors do not solve problems for users, but are able to help redirect users to the correct place to resolve an issue.

How do I become a Wattpad Ambassador?

If you think you got what it takes to be a Wattpad Ambassador, make sure to read the information on the to see if you are eligible to submit an application to join the team.If you feel you are up to the task and are qualified, please fill out the submissions form via the link on the profile. Submissions open and close at different times of the year, so follow the Ambassador profile to keep abreast of current submissions.Since we receive such a high volume of applications, the team will only contact those who we see are able to take on this role.

Your password is the key to not only logging into your account, but also to changing your username, changing your email address and deleting a story. You can change it at any point or reset it ifyou'veforgotten about it.

It must be between 6 and 20 characters long

You can use letters [a-z], numbers [0-9], or symbols like ^%$&

There is no way to view your password

Your password can be reset when youre logged in or out of your account

Do not share your password with anyone; keep your account secure!

What is Story Ranking?

Story ranking is a way to give great stories the recognition they deserve. It also helps readers discover new content on Wattpad. Now stories are able to rank on multiple lists at the same time, and writers can see their 'most impressive' ranking at the very top of the story rankings page. Also, stories that are rated mature can be ranked on tag pages as well.Remember to tag your stories to be eligible to rank!

Has the Hot List changed for broader genres, like Historical Fiction, Fantasy, etc.?

Yes. Now any story with that tag will be eligible to rank.

The rankings are designed so stories that are more relevant to a particular tag should rank higher on the list. This is an aspect of the lists that we are constantly improving. As a result, it is very important that you tag your stories accurately, as this will increase your likelihood of getting discovered by readers interested in your story, and keep the stories in each tag Hot List relevant.

How are Hot List Rankings determined?

We use a sophisticated algorithm which takes into account factors such as the popularity, trendiness and user engagement of a story, plus the relevance of the tags used and when the story was last updated by the author.

We take the accuracy of the tags that you use to describe your story into account, so be sure to use tags that describe the kind of story you are writing so that readers can find it when searching.

Do Story Rankings change my storys visibility?

Yes! If your story is ranked, youll see it on the Hot List for that tag. Since stories can now rank on multiple Hot Lists, youll have many chances to get discovered.

How should I tag my stories?

There is a maximum of 25 tags per story. Now you have an opportunity to rank in all of them if your story makes each of the Hot Lists, so choose your tags wisely. Try to add the tags that best describe your story and are most relevant so that readers can find it when searching.

What is Most Impressive Ranking?

The 'most impressive' ranking is always shown at the very top of your ranking list. This is the best ranking achieved based on how many stories are also on the list.Ex: #5 out of 500 stories is listed as more impressive than #1 out of 50 stories

Were excited to update you on the new Library management experience which was recently tested with Wattpaders on iOS.

Offline reading makes it possible to take your favorite Wattpad stories with you on the gowithout being connected to the internet. With the new Library management experience, it is easy to add and remove stories from your Offline List with the tap of a button. Connect to the internet momentarily, add a story to your Offline List with a single tap, and enjoy diving into your next obsession wherever you areno internet needed.

Issues with the previous version of Library management resulted in Wattpaders having a lack of control over automatic downloads, device storage overload, Library syncing issues, and app crashes which is not the offline experience we want to provide.

You now have total control over the stories you save for offline reading by curating an Offline List based on your needs and preferences. You tell Wattpad when and how to use your internet connection and device storage. Also, any Paid Stories you have added to your Library will be available for offline reading and will not count towards your offline limit.

The new Library experience will be slowly rolling out to all Wattpadders, and over the course of the coming weeks, each one of you will eventually see this update. This new Offline reading was designed and built for youthe members of our diverse, creative, and passionate communityand wecan'twait for you to explore it for yourselves.

Open your Library by tapping on

Tap on the Archive tab OR slide the page to the left

You can choose to either view your Archive in list view or in grid view. To change between the two:

Tap in the upper right-hand corner

Select either Show as grid or Show as list

On Web

Open your Library by clicking on your Profile and selecting Library in the drop-down menu

Select Library

Click on Archive

InSeptember 2018 the private story function was removed and any story part that was previously marked private was set to draft. In order to republish your story, it will need to be published again and it will automatically be set to public.

This is an effort to improve the performance of the Wattpad platform. At Wattpad, we're continuously looking to optimize the overall Writing and Reading experience and we appreciate your cooperation with this.

Do you want to change the language on your account? If so, there are two language options that you can adjust on Wattpad:

Story language: the language that is used for your recommendations and searches.

Display language: the language used for the settings and controls of the app and/or website.

Select a platform for more information.

On iOS

To change your story language:

Go to your profile

Press the gear in the top left corner

Select Account Settings

Tap Language

Scroll through the list and select a language

To change your display language:

Go to your phone settings

Change the language of your device

On Android

To change your story language:

Go to your profile

Press the gear in the top right corner

Select Language

Scroll through the list and select a language

To change your display language:

Go to your phone settings

Change the language of your device

On Windows Phone

To change your story language:

Tap the three lines in the upper left corner

Select Settings

Select Account Settings

Tap Language

Scroll through the list and select your preferred story language

To change your display language:

Go to your phone settings

Change the language of your device

On Web

To change your story language:

Click on your username in the top right corner

Select Language

Click on the language beside Story Language and select a language from the menu

Click Save

To change your display language:

Click on your username in the top right corner

Select Language

Click on the language beside Display Language and select a language from the menu

Click Save

If you are missing stories from your reading list or having difficulty deleting stories from your reading list, please select a platform for more details.

On iOS, Android & Windows Phone

Try logging into the web version of Wattpad at www.wattpad.com to check if you are experiencing the same issues there. If you are not, please ensure that your internet connection is stable, then try the following:

Try logging out and back in, making sure to completely close the app.

Try to uninstall and re-install the app.

Try in an alternate wifi network or, if possible, another data network. Your internet connection may be weak or intermittent.

On the Web

If you are using the web, please log out of Wattpad, try clearing your browser's cache/cookies, then log back in to see if the issue persists.

If you still experience this issue and have not already tried, please try using different browsers such as Firefox, or Google Chrome.

Problems deleting your entire reading list?

When you create your Wattpad Account, a default Reading List is created and it cannot be deleted. Though it is not possibleto delete your original reading list, you can delete stories within the reading list.

If you are trying to delete any other reading list you created and experience issues with this, please try out the general troubleshooting steps mentioned in the above section.
