Mr. David Tang, also known as Dave, has been Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Western Digital Corporation since April 6, 2017. Mr. Tang leads the ongoing transformation of the Western Digital brand, as Western Digital redefines its brand identity and role in the industry from a leading storage device supplier to a thought leader and enabler of data-centric innovation. He serves as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategy and General Manager of Elastic Platforms Storage Group of HGST, Inc. Mr. Tang served as Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategy and General Manager of Cold Storage Solutions Group at HGST, Inc. He drove the long-term strategy for HGST, including its investments in emerging technologies and evolving corporate capabilities. He was responsible for leading the engineering and marketing efforts to develop cold storage systems and solutions. Mr. Tang served as consultant and chief strategist at Cisco Systems for its Cloud Network Services and SMB initiatives. His career spans over 30 years in information technology where he has served in executive management positions in engineering, sales, marketing, business development and corporate development. Mr. Tang has served as an executive leader at several data center storage, systems and security companies including Network Appliance, Vormetric, Kuokoa Networks, Gadzoox Networks, Inc., Quantum, Seagate and Conner Peripherals. Mr. Tang served as Vice President of Marketing since March 1998 and served as Director of Business Development from December 1996 to March 1998. From September 1994 to November 1996, Mr. Tang served as senior manager of strategic marketing for Quantum Corporation, a computer data storage company. His undergraduate studies were in Electrical Engineering and Physics at the University of Delaware. Mr. Tang is a graduate of Stanford University's Executive Institute program for high tech business management.
