Prior to Hewlett-Packard in 2012, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the workforce optimization division at Aspect Software Group Holdings Ltd. from July 2012 to August 2, 2012. He served as Senior Vice President of Avaya Inc., from April 15, 2011 to April 13, 2012. Mr. Ali served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of Avaya Inc. since December 2009. He served as the President of Avaya Global Services at Avaya Inc. Prior to Avaya, Mr. Ali served as Vice President of Business Development & Strategy for IBM's Information Management division where he oversaw division strategy, partner relationships and the selection, acquisition and integration of target companies. Mr. Ali served as Vice President and General Manager for IBM's Information Applications software business unit, IBM's EDA software business, IBM's E&TS hardware systems business and IBM's GSM semiconductor business. He served as a Director of the Engineering & Technology Services hardware systems business, Program Director of the GSM semiconductor business unit and Director of Corporate Development and Strategic Investments. Mr. Ali also held positions in sales, marketing, engineering and finance. Before joining IBM, he was an Executive at software startup Neural Applications Corporation and an engineer at Adobe Systems. He serves as the Chairman of the Board at Mass Technology Leadership Council, Inc. He has been a Director of iRobot Corporation since August 2015. He has been Director at Carbonite, Inc. since January 8, 2015. He has been a Director of City National Bank since June 25, 2013 and City National Corporation since September 1, 2013. He served as a Director of Ember Corporation since October 13, 2009. He serves on the Leadership Council of Oxfam America and on the board of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. He was named to Boston Business Journal's 2008 40 Under 40 list and recognized by Massachusetts High Tech magazine as a 2011 All-Star. He previously served as CEO of The Zuellig Group, a $12 billion primarily business-to-business conglomerate based in China - Hong Kong S.A.R. that saw sales triple during his tenure from August 2004-March 2012. Prior to leading The Zuellig Group, Meaney spent a number of years in the airline industry, serving as the chief commercial officer and managing director of publicly-traded Swiss International Airlines from December 2002 to January 2004 and executive vice president of South African Airways from 1998 to 2001. Earlier in his career, Meaney served as: the acting CEO of South African Vaccine Producers; the founder and managing director of Genhro Management Consultancy; and a principal of Strategic Planning Associates, now part of Oliver Wyman. Meaney's first career was as a CIA operations officer. He is a member of the Asia Business Council, and he holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master's in industrial administration from Carnegie Mellon University. He also serves on the Board of Directors of State Street Corporation; and is a member of the Massachusetts General Hospital President's Council.
