Bio-Rad has a very benefits-rich compensation plan. So your salary may not be as attractive, but when you calculate the monetary value that they contribute (healthcare, etc) the total compensation is really attractive.

My team tends to work well independently, so there is no single person that bears the load of the group. Management has done an excellent job recruiting self-motivated people, which makes everyone job just a bit easier.

It was a relative small interview group so it was easy to get to know the people in the group and build a quick personal relationship. It made the interview seem a bit more personal than the hiring manager just getting through another number.

My immediate manager is great because he addresses any issues I have and helps to enable my career development. Above that it become more difficult to get anything done because of lack of resources or the need to get approval. It seems as though the buck stops too high.
