It's awesome. You get a check every 6 months of you work 32+ hours for 26 weeks

  • It's good, but every 3 months is better.

  • Absolutely terrible, you only get two weeks off a year which is pretty basic, but worse is you have to request your vacation time at least 6 months in advance , And depending upon how long you have worked there your request will likely get denied while someone else gets approved

It's definitely a bit different from anywhere else I've ever worked. Much less formal. The manager had more of a casual conversation with me. The background check is out of the manager's hands, that much either receives an approval or rejection without the mgr ever knowing it's contents. The manager, however, is the sole decision maker once the approval has been made. Though I just got lucky getting hired, most often you have to be born into the company or apply at exactly the right time when they need people. Longevity is insane, with most of my coworkers having at least five years there or more, like myself. However, out of every ten people hired, we may keep 1 or 2. Rarely 3. Believe it or not, this is a difficult job. Whether you're serving or a grill operator, you're gonna bust your butt 95% of the time and it's mentally exhausting. Everyone always says, if you can work Waffle House, you can work anywhere in the food industry.

  • It's a 2 sometimes 3 step process

  • Too much stuff at different Waffle Houses

  • Sales are having difficulties

  • These older stores need upgrading and they aren't getting done. It's hard to keep any old store as clean as it needs to be.

  • Get it done. Don't waste time, don't run around pondering or finding the right answer, get people in and fed and out in twenty minutes. Then do it again and again until it's time to clock out. Clean up your mess or have hell to pay.

  • Some are pretty cool others need to do their jobs a little better, also the waitresses need to quit taking all tables and the to go's leaving the other without any tip $$ while dropping their dishes without washing them and leaving the one that doesn't get any tables to do the dishes on 3rd shift!! Because it isn't fair!! Because leaving the one without any tips to do ALL sides work at 2.28$ and hr is NOT right...

  • Like coworkers anywhere else except less mature and more dramatic :)

They cover the basics such as, "why would you like to work here," "why do you think you'd be an asset to this company," (in 'not so many' proper words) and then they give you an actual math test. That's a real thing. You'll be pricing tickets and reaching totals the old fashioned way so it makes sense. Also, the training includes so many videos but you still won't be anywhere near prepared for the real deal.

  • Not important ones.

Waffle House doesn't advertise other than within the stores on our own products. It has a bad reputation and ads could help curb that perception as the home of intoxicated, undereducated, poor, lower class employees. My coworkers are all quite normal and have average appearances versus the rest of blue collar society.

  • Have 2 managers. 1 at night

  • My team does not always see eye to eye, we argue and we do it often. We are left ill prepared for the swarms of customers we must appease 90% of the time. We cuss each other and we get frustrated to the point of wanting to quit. But we don't quit. We get through it. We take out a little aggression with snide comments then we pull together and get through rushes like you wouldn't believe. During blizzards we may work 20 straight hours so we're tired and nearing exhaustion, but we don't stop. And when the shift is over, we all leave knowing we are gonna be there tomorrow with the same knuckleheads because that's what families do. We really are a disfunctional family.

  • We are family
