We had to lay off instructors and associates, that is scary. I don't feel secure at this job at all even though I get really good feedback from students. Overall, I think the pay is ok, the benefits are horrible, the job itself is pretty good, pretty stressful, but definitely manageable.
Interacting with our associates (students) and my colleagues/friends at work. I also love to teach so it's fun to do that.
Helpful attitudes, an environment where it's ok to not know something. We all understand the struggles of a teacher and help each other through it.
Very willing to help. Never make me feel stupid if I don't understand a concept. They encourage and support me when I need it. I very much appreciate the teacher spirit that is in all of them.
Teaching fun/cool/interesting concepts and helping trainees/students to understand and accomplish their work. Getting good feedback from students is always an ego boost (: Also good feedback from managers is great too. But just having the feeling of helping others is great.
Figuring out how to give better benefits to their employees. There is no matching 401k and we pay the full premium for our health care plans. That is over $1000 a month and that delivers a pretty large hit to our salaries.
They understand what it's like to be an instructor because my supervisor is one. They are patient with me when I don't/understand certain subjects. Always willing to help. They don't micromanage, they trust me to do my job. James is one of the best bosses I've ever had.
Great colleagues. The people on my same level, the ones I work with are great. I love my direct manager but everyone else, I'm not sure they care about us because of the non existence of good benefits. For what we pay for the health insurance, it hardly covers anything.
The salary is great. Everything else is pretty bad. The family insurance plan is $1000 a month and that is astronomically high. That makes a great salary an ok one. The internet reimbursement is great but having to print a check each month is annoying. No 401k matching, overall, not very good.
Everyone is willing to help, they are suffering with the no good benefits thing as well. They are just really kind hearted people who really care about the people they work with. I wish they were in charge of our benefits, they would be better if they were. They care about the normal worker.
I have been here for over a year now and there was never any talk about a performance raise. Besides my salary, there are no other benefits to the job. No matching 401k, no help paying the healthcare premiums, to be honest I have thought and may leave the company because of the no benefits.
