What are some key signs workplace is becoming a toxic environment?

All communication is done over email and not in person.

When you wake up in the morning and dread going to work

Rising tension levels - cliques forming - being snubbed

Bad days. Not wanting to go or be at work. Or wanting/wishing for something else

A mirror placed at a person's desk so that they can see who is behind them watching their work is the biggest and worst sign of a toxic work environment I have ever witnessed in my 45+ years of working at various companies.

Gossip, poor treatment, retaliatory attitudes, depression due to work/ low pay.

When you don’t get paid enough... and everyone hates everyone..

Frequent sick leave, people finding new jobs, gossiping and complaining at every opportunity,

Excessive gossip, frequent management changing, and the overall morale in employees has declined.

Lack of transparency, us vs them mentality, lack of trust in leadership

Lies, lack of communication, no vision beyond the day.

More than the usual assortment of rumors, lack of transparency from the executive team.
