Meet as many co-workers as possible in the first 2 weeks that either have this role or interface with this role. Ask them about their daily routines, unwritten policies and expectations. Come in to office 30 minutes earlier than usual, listen and learn.
It's been my experience that LESS IS MORE ie: when you're getting ready to get spiffed up for the interview, remember this is a job interview; NOT a night on the town. So when bathing don't over obsess about Uber grooming, lol. Just be clean and not stinky (too heavy perfume/cologne) this goes double for your face make-up. Most important tip for personal grooming w/regards to job interview ( especially if you've been outta the working game for awhile ) no matter if you're male, female, or somewhere in between, your hands must be clean including your fingernails!! When you're introduced to whomever is present for interview, a clean face, with a direct eye to eye contact (not a stare down, just straight on) combined w/a firm and clean handshake, sets the stage by letting your prospective boss/bosses see that you know how to appear in an arena where all eyes are on you. That is a much desired trait when hiring a new team member. You want to exude confidence, NOT cockiness. Good luck.
Dress professionally. Show up on time. Do what needs to be done.
Buy some comfortable but professional clothes - that includes pants, blouses, skirts and the most important - Comfortable shoes! You want your first days to be comfortable so you can focus on learning the new job and get to know co-workers.
Coffee. It’s key.
