Acceptable work culture change with time. 1980 and 1990 behavior may not be acceptable today.
If culture and overall morale is left unchecked the organization will not be able to handle problems which will lead to monetary losses.

Companies should utilize their financial resources to improve work place conditions and engage employees to help the community and/or world at large
Money isn’t everything. Happy employees stay put. Keep them happy.
People buy from people they like. Everyone wants to help someone in life.

A high attrition rate and / or unhappy employees.
Improving/preserving company culture tends to attract and keep top talents. One bad accusation about culture in the company can drive a lot of employees out, and scare potential ones away. To continue to stay well monetarily, a company would need talent.
