100% yes. Dress codes are outdated and do not reflect the values of the current workforce. In my experience, dress codes have been enforced solely as an assertion of power by managers who lack confidence in themselves and their capabilities to lead effectively.
Seeing the dress code being followed properly makes me happy. I am then happy to work where I do. Unfortunately too many people push the limits and drag the moral down with the poor choices of work attire. I am all for dress codes being followed and enforced.
It angers people. Adults don’t want to be treated like 2-year-olds. If an individual dresses inappropriately, address it with them confidentially. It makes leaders look weak when they don’t.
