
There are few opportunities for spontaneous interaction, which leaves little room for bonding.
Lots of tech debt, infra is completely overwhelmed, documentation is usually out of date, testing is almost always inadequate. We are incentivized to work on shiny, new things over boring-but-valuable engineering work (test coverage, documentation, code reuse, etc.)
There's no incentive to do the boring-but-valuable engineering work. I noticed no one seemed to care about it, and my feedback improved when I stopped doing it because it's easy to get stuff done when you don't care about tech debt.
