  • Not great. C-level leaders turned over in the past year and the mid-level leaders (VP & Directors) aren't on the right page yet. Lots of policy/culture mismatches. Make policies that match the culture you want to claim. Train people, give them the pay/benefits they deserve, and make your budgets reflect your priorities.

  • There is a big split between the older generation of Omnitracs employees (the original Qualcomm teams) and the new Omnitracs employees (junior and mid level, recent college grads). The company has been largely driven by engineering for as long as it has existed, and there is a clash between them and the new, more design-focused Product team. UX Design is not truly valued at this company, although they are trying. Everything revolves around the bottom line, as Omnitracs is a VC-owned company (Vista Equity). Coworkers are a lot of fun, and they tend to skew young, especially in the Product Management department, where they hire HPEL's (High Performance Entry Level), which is another way of justifying not paying market values for talent. This leads to frequent turnaround, as Product Managers find that they can get paid $15-30k more, on average, at another company after spending a year or two at Omnitracs.

  • REMOTE WORK. The commute to downtown is terrible/costly (time and $$$) and the cost of parking isn't fully supplemented. Training budgets for individuals. Food/drinks provided in the breakroom. Many other companies do this to great effect.

  • C-level execs are motivated to make the parent company money, not to make quality products to sell to our customers. It is a struggle to get basic quality controls put in place, much less rigorous QA. Projects go underfunded, and miscommunication creates regular "emergencies" that must be addressed to keep the products up and running.
