San Joaquin Valley College Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

I appreciate having a variety or health benefit packages to choose from and a Health Savings Account. It helps my pay stretch and work for my families budget. SJVC knows not one size fits all.

Review from HR Dept

Fair and respectable pay for my profession!

Review from HR Dept

The health benefits are affordable and I like that there has been an increased focus to help employees learn to live a healthy lifestyle.

Review from HR Dept

Review from Customer Success Dept

I do not participate in the benefits

Review from Customer Success Dept

We offer paid vacation for employees.

Review from Operations Dept

I think it was awesome that I received sick pay when I had covid it helped me stress a lot less about my pay and more on my recovery.

Review from Customer Success Dept

I am not currently taking Health Benefits from SJVC. So I would have to say the life insurance benefits.

Review from Customer Success Dept

I can't really say there is a "best part."

Review from Admin Dept

The pay is high and is abve all other schools

Review from Operations Dept

The Sick and Vacation time

Review from Operations Dept

I believe yes and no questions do not allow for complete answers.

Review from Customer Success Dept

I do not have one since I am PT but do take advantage of the 401K

Review from Product Dept

Salary I don't use the benefits

Review from Sales Dept

It's adequate, nothing seems outstanding, it's pretty standard

Review from Customer Support Dept

Yearly pay raise based on performance

Review from Operations Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation is far below average for Education institutions. This leads to a high rate of turnover and an unstable work environment. The benefits are expensive and subpar.

Review from Admin Dept

Others in my field are paid higher

Review from HR Dept

The college pays less than many other colleges around the area I would like to see the pay based on years of experience as well as degrees not a flat rate for everyone. Still love to work here!!!

Review from Customer Success Dept

I’m beginning to think that’s all SJVC is about, the money. Funny, I thought employee success at SJVC were at the base/foundation of the Strategy Map. Everything starts in the classroom. P

Review from Customer Success Dept

to be listen to. Take advise from employees serious and follow thru. Give a raise when they suppose to.

Review from Product Dept

I don't feel undervalued, just not paid for what I'm worth

Review from Engineering Dept

The compensation seems low for the amount of responsibility we have with our commitments.

Review from Product Dept

I am a program director and I am currently making the same amount of money as the staff I oversee. Basically, there is NO incentive for me to stay in this position. I feel I pay way to much money for mediocre benefits. I use my husband's KP benefits instead.

Review from Admin Dept

I am an African American and I am the lowest paid member on my team. I have the same experience as them and also a higher education level than some of them. This was discouraging. I also feel like my goals are unrealistic.

Review from Sales Dept

paid for the work I put in and better benefits

Review from Customer Support Dept

Reviews are not done in a timely manner. And merit increases are not retroactive.

Review from Operations Dept

Not being recognized for the work you do even when you go above and beyond. More money would make me feel better!

Review from Customer Success Dept

Look at other people in my position, I am the least paid. Also look at who has the longevity in my position. I have had no issues till I was up for evaluation. If my supervisor feels I am performing at a high level, why is it being questioned? I am looking into leaving once an offer comes my way.

Review from Product Dept

I would appreciate pay that is commensurate to my experience, education, and job functions.

Review from Customer Success Dept

Compensation is below value. Inflation is at a record high with no raise to offset inflation. This should be automatic.

Review from Customer Success Dept

Faculty and student services pay is not competitive with other like organizations. This may contribute to employee turnover and a lack of longevity among faculty. I would like to see this change in the future.

Review from Admin Dept

better pay for the work that we amount of work. And be paid at market value.

Review from Sales Dept

I've been with SJVC for a little over 3 years now and only get paid .40 cents more than from when I first started. Living in Bakersfield, I worked many split-shifts in Delano and Porterville for those 3 years. Im now working Bakersfield and Delano. I love my job, so I try not to complain.

Review from Admin Dept

Appropriate and comparable pay in comparison to other institutions. What is expected exceed how we are compensated.

Review from Customer Success Dept

Competitive compensation, external conference opportunities, included in institutional-wide campus changes.
