By bringing back the focus on the base level employee the atmosphere would be a lot better. As a whole we never get raises or any incentives anymore. When I started it was every 6 months you would be considered for a raise. That ended over 2 years ago, and since then I have not been considered for any raises based on my work output and have felt less important because of this.
We are WAY understaffed! I would certainly have more staff to reduce employee burnout. Also, our training regiment is awful. There is very little training to be able to effectively learn the multi-level of activities required for each barista. It's quite overwhelming when you are thrown into the position with VERY little hands on training after reading some PowerPoint slides for a day.
Go back to caring about the partners. No negative raises because health care costs more than your raise. "Great! I'm only making $70.00 less a paycheck than I was last year. After my 1.2% raise, that is."
I would reduce the “new drink promos” dramatically.. had to explain to too many disappointed/upset customers that their favorite drink is no longer available because their drink was only for a limited time given it was a promo..
I would make sure every person behind the counter is motivated and wants to be there. It is difficult to run efficiently if even one person doesn’t have a motivational attitude.
No one wants to change or improve just do what has always been done. We need to innovate and not build a box around ourselves.
Give the employees the hours they need to make a living
the culture is pretty much the best ever
Have a stronger leadership
