
It depends on the group you're with - sometimes the 'teacher's pet' gets the promotion, and sometimes the person who deserves it gets it. Often, favoritism is shown to those who started their career in a retail location.
They don't seem to be interested in promoting the base level staff, the district and regional managers seem to move around a lot and are offered more room for promotion.
It often doesn't. Then people leave to work at Amazon for 30% to start. 200+ and counting (that I know of).
