Typically when you start as a barista at starbucks, you have to work hard to memorize drinks and everything like that. Once you are efficient at making all the drinks and you are strong on every other position you can ask to be promoted to a shift supervisor. The time it takes to be strong in every position will vary from person to person, but if you work hard enough at doing so, you can get there in a year and a half or less.

Depends on the location and availability of spots. Usually pretty easy if you show initiative and drive to your SM.
