The vibe and overall morale within the IT departments is poor. There have been layoffs (i.e. reduction in force or RIFs) every year for the past 5 years. There is talk about the company selling the bulk of the IT support teams to a third party for some time. The uncertainty demoralizing and consumes a lot of "water cooler gossip" time.
