I feel like I'm seen, and able to make real contributions at DataStax. There's plenty process-related things that I find very frustrating, but I'm very happy to report that I don't see a lot of people issues (toxic behavior, etc). I feel supported, but often confused on what's important right now.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
Since walking in the door, I feel more at home at DataStax than I have at any of my previous positions. I've had an opportunity to do some incredible work, and my personal growth has been immense. I felt able to take on greater challenges because I knew I would be supported.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The gratitude shown by all folks at all levels (usually Bonusly, but it's not the only way folks show it)
What makes you most happy at work?
Seeing folks growing and meeting challenges, and how we collectively lean into tough, gnarly issues like process issues with a "We can figure this out together" mentality.
What makes you most happy at work?
Seeing folks happy about their learning & development. Putting folks in leadership positions in projects and watching them learn immensely from that experience. Watching folks grow and learn at a rapid pace.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I don't need to worry about mine and my family's healthcare. It's never a question of whether or not I'll be able to afford care, or if we will be able to find a specialist that is covered.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
My experience at past companies was that values, direction, and talk about caring about employees has amounted to little more than lip service. DataStax is the first place I've worked where I felt like there's trust and compassion between leadership and boots on the ground
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The leadership team is honest, transparent and candid. There's been several opportunities during my tenure to ask direct questions of members of the leadership team, including the CEO. Responses to these questions are always valuable and help bring clarity to the overall mission of the company
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The best part of our compensation package is that I do not have to worry about whether or not my family can get the medical care we need when we need it. A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders as the primary provider for my family.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone truly cares about doing their best work, even if we don't all agree on the right way to do that. Everyone listens to each others' viewpoints. Real effort is put into making space for folks to speak their minds. People go out of their way to recognize good work.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone shows up for each other, and cheers each other on. We celebrate individual wins, and folks don't covet knowledge. Folks really care about inclusion, and I see evidence of this every day. We really all care about each other personally, and want to see each other have long-term career success
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Compared to most of my work experience, I don't see a lot of huge egos getting in the way of people doing good work or shouting out quieter voices. We're not perfect, but there's a real premium put on inclusion & diversity of perspective that I haven't seen at other companies before.
