In the 10+ years I've worked here there's been a slow march towards more corporate behavior, and with the IPO and the new leaders (white/old/male) we're taking that to an extreme, "best-shoring" most roles, and prizing efficiency over effectiveness. The heart of the company is dead.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Some of us are still dedicated, experienced, and highly effective. It's great to be in a team of people who achieve things.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
People do their best to look after each other. There's a good focus on mental health and wellbeing, at least at the lower levels.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
We're run by HP/IBM C-level corporate overlords who are used to running companies with 100,000+ employees, and they're pulling the same crap with our company of 6,000.
What did you like most about the interview process?
It was so long ago that it won't be relevant now! However we do have strong technical people involved in the interviews, and there's not too much nonsense in the process.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
It's paid on time and is decent enough to live well in the UK. Better packages are available elsewhere in the market, but let's be honest, past a certain point it doesn't bring happiness.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They're the same mega-corporate lizards-in-suits that you'll find at any HP or IBM or similar. I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog without trying to sell it off, or replace it with a cheaper, more efficient dog.
