It doesn’t matter if you’re 26 or 56 — your confidence in asking for a raise will probably remain mostly the same during your life.
Age and confidence don’t rise together
According to data compiled by Comparably, confidence in asking for a raise hovers around 57% across all age groups (meaning 57% of people say they are confident in asking for a raise). Confidence is lowest among 18 to 25 year olds (54%) and highest among 26 to 30 year olds (62%).
The data, which comes from the latest reading of an ongoing query of more than 1,000 workers in tech, shows that asking for a raise is never a comfortable subject for most people.
From a department perspective
People who work in executive roles, business development, product, and operations tend to be most confident in asking for a raise. People who work in admin and legal tend to be least confident.
