What does great mentorship add to your company?

Vertafore’s mentorship program offers an internal opportunity for an employee to grow in their career. We tell our employees that Vertafore is a great place to grow your career and offer internal mobility opportunities for employees to explore other areas of work outside of what they first hire into, and the mentorship program greatly supports that! The program also offers an opportunity for our employees to teach each other about the nuances and tacit knowledge within the work and the industry that you can’t get from an external mentor. Great mentorship in general offers more support for employees to reach their goals and we’ve seen that within our program here at Vertafore.

Can you tell us about any mentorship programs you have in place?

We have a mentorship program that is independently led by employees. What that means is that employees can seek out a mentor on their own to drive their career development. We also know and have recognized that some employees need more support, so we provide an annual opportunity for employees to sign up for a matching program to take away the nerves of finding a mentor. We educate the company on the recommended framework to follow but encourage employees to have that evolve or simply changed to suit the needs of both the mentee and the mentor.

What does great mentorship add to your company?

Our Mentor Program is one of the foundational pillars of our company. The Mentor Program builds a broader sense of community as it connects our entry-level new hires with a top performer outside of their office. Beacon Hill leads with a people-first culture, and the Mentor Program is one of the first ways that our new hires get to truly experience that.

Can you tell us about any mentorship programs you have in place?

Our Entry-level Mentor Program pairs those new to our industry with a top performer in their region. They stay in this pair until the Mentee hits their 1-year anniversary, so they can celebrate that milestone together. The Mentor Program is also folded into our career pathing: our Mentees want to become Mentors themselves down the road because they loved their own experience—it’s a powerful ripple effect. Our future state will include a second program specifically for new leadership within Beacon Hill to ensure that, as you grow within the company, your learning and resources grow with you.
