About a third of people say their boss has a negative impact on company culture, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The results come from more than 5,000 employees across the technology industry.
Women vs. men
Overall, women were slightly more likely than men to say their bosses hurt company culture (32% women vs. 30% men).

Women in business development (45%), design (43%) and finance (41%) were most likely to say that their boss hurts company culture, while women in HR (13%) and customer support (23%) were least likely to say the same. Men in business development (41%) and admin (39%) were most likely to say their boss hurts company culture while men in HR (16%).


BY DEPARTMENT
Overall, workers in business development and design were most likely to say their bosses hurt company culture. Workers in HR and customer support were least likely.

By age
Workers of all ages registered similar responses, with anywhere from 32% to 36% of respondents saying they think their boss hurts company culture.
