40% of Tech Employees Dislike Their CEO’s Management Style

Forty percent of workers in tech say they do not approve of the way their CEOs manage, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably.

The most approving workers

People who work in human resources tend to be the biggest champions of their CEOs. Seventy-one percent of them say they approve of their CEO’s management style, followed next by workers in engineering (65%), and finance (64%).

On the other side of the spectrum are communications workers, only 51% of whom say they approve of their CEO’s management style. Workers in administrative roles and design also reported below-average rates of approving of their CEOs.

Men vs. women

Men were slightly more likely than women to support their CEO’s management style. Sixty percent of men were in favor of their CEO’s management style, versus 56% of women. menwmen

Older workers have the lowest view of their CEO’s management style

Approval of the CEO’s management style hovers around 60% among workers of all age groups until age 50. After that, approval drops off, hitting 45% among workers 61 to 65.
