People in engineering jobs save more money than their peers in other departments at tech companies, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably.
Twenty-nine percent of engineers say they save at least 20% of their income a month and 26% say they save at least 10%. The average for all respondents regardless of department was 25% in each bucket.

Workers in administrative roles saved the least, with 39% saying they save “nothing,” and 11% saying “I spend more than I make.”

From a regional standpoint
Workers in San Francisco appeared to be the biggest savers, with 39% of respondents in that city saying they save 20% or more of their paycheck a month. Another 26% say they save 10%. Seattle also had high percentages of people who save good chunks of their paycheck per month.

Houston, on the other hand, had the smallest percentages of people who saved the most each month. Eighteen percent of respondents say they save 20% of their paychecks and 25% say they save 10%.
