How has this pandemic shifted the way your business operates, and how have your people responded to the crisis?
“The safety and wellness of our employees and their families come before everything else. Like most companies, the pandemic has shifted us all to work remotely. This has created its own set of challenges, especially for folks who are caring for loved ones at home. However, we continue to be impressed at how quickly our employees have adapted to this ‘new normal.’ In fact, a recent pulse survey across our organization indicates that our employees are more connected now – from Salt Lake City to Boston to Sofia, Bulgaria. Additionally, we formed a cross-functional Response Team that launched an employee portal that provides the latest updates related to COVID-19 business continuity plans.”
“Quick Base remains customer-obsessed. To support first responders and those closest to the frontlines, we are offering our platform and certification at no cost. Quick Base has also created a small business loan accelerator app that helps folks determine their eligibility for CARES Act Relief. Additionally, the Quick Base recruiting team has partnered with other recruiters in the tech space to volunteer their time in hopes to provide advice to those who lost their jobs unexpectedly during the pandemic.”
Are there any guiding principles that you or your company live by?
“Quick Base lives by five core values:
Customer-obsessed: We all look to understand and exceed customer expectations in everything we do. Everyone is front line and a Quick Base ambassador.
Exceptional: We strive to provide leadership and we trust that exceptional people who are focused on outcomes and set their own priorities, will ask for help when needed.
Courageous: We are bold but not self-righteous. We focus on impact, not effort, and are boundaryless in how we approach our work and each other.
Simplify: As individuals and an organization, we remain highly focused on the few highest impact priorities until we’ve delivered.
Trusted: We are transparent, we do what we say, and act with integrity in all our interactions.”
What are some of the best practices you and your staff do to stay connected, in general and in times of crisis?
“With our employees in several locations: Massachusetts, Utah, Bulgaria, and many working remotely across the country, it is crucial for everyone to feel connected. In times of crisis, simplifying our processes and communication becomes paramount. While Quick Base runs on the Quick Base platform for most of our processes, we leverage multiple file sharing and chat applications to communicate efficiently. On Slack, for instance, we have over 600 channels spanning from platform support to weekly employee recognitions to photos of dogs. Another way Quick Base keeps its employees engaged and connected is through a program called the Joy Division. The Joy Division’s sole purpose is to bring joy to our employees through social engagement and fun, from Waffle Wednesdays, happy hours, team lunches, an annual company picnic, and much more! Since the pandemic has started, the Joy Division distributes a weekly newsletter, ‘The Weekly Digest’ highlighting virtual events, employee recognition of the week, photos of remote life, employee fun facts, and more. Lastly, our Executive Team hosts a quarterly town hall meeting with employees to give updates on the business and to announce the QB value winners. Since the start of the pandemic, our Executive Team has been incredibly supportive and transparent with employees and continues to host full-staff bi-weekly Q&A session.”
