Now, making sure employees can separate work from the rest of life has become even more precious  a balance to maintain for companies and their workforces across the U.S. and the rest of the world. Work-life balance has always been part of TaskUs’s culture and commitment even prior to shifting to remote work. TaskUs offices are creatively designed to allow the integration of collaborative work, social interactions, and rest––complete with in-house facilities including gyms, daycare centers, meditation areas, gaming rooms, and sleeping pods. TaskUs sites are also strategically located near residential areas where employees live to lessen the time wasted from long commutes and spend more time actually living. As a result of the work-from-home setup, living and working in the same space has been challenging for everyone. TaskUs made the following commitments to ensure work-life balance even when working at home:

  • No meeting Fridays – TaskUs announced a policy to keep Fridays free from meetings to allow everyone to finish tasks before the weekend.
  • No Chat Weekends – Sending emails and chats over the weekend is discouraged to allow colleagues not to worry about work on their rest days. Only time-sensitive communications are allowed to be sent out.
  • Taking Time Offs – TaskUs provides paid time offs to all employees at every level of the organization. Employees are asked to respect personal time-offs, and TaskUs requires its leaders to model this behavior.

Work-life balance at Vena means acknowledging the fact that our employees have rich personal lives outside of work. It’s important that our team is physically and mentally recharged so they can continue to be high performers. This balance is not always easy to achieve, but the leaders at Vena understand how critical it is to address and continue to improve on this measure.

Balance may also mean flexibility in work hours and not the traditional 9-5 or 8 hours a day work set up.

During the pandemic, Vena has launched initiatives to encourage mindfulness and connection amongst our employees including virtual yoga sessions and health & wellness seminars.

As we continue to monitor COVID-19 developments and navigate remote work, Instacart is committed to prioritizing the health and wellness of employees, finding ways to keep employees connected, as well as supporting employees as we all try to balance our personal and professional lives.

At Instacart, many of our employees are parents or caregivers. With schools in “distance learning” and many care centers closed, employees are acting as home school teachers and care providers while balancing their work responsibilities. During this time, we want to ensure that our caregiver community is fully supported. As a company, we’ve adopted a set of guidelines for managers to help accommodate caregivers on their teams including offering flexible schedules and extra time blocks throughout the day, as well as offering leaves of absence. What does work-life balance mean to your company and why is it important?

Here at PACE, we don’t want our employees to be in conflict over work and life – life should always come first. We understand that employees have priorities and responsibilities outside of work and are more than happy to make arrangements around these needs. Work-life balance is important because it ensures that our employees have the opportunity to not just take time off to relax or connect with family and friends, but take time to maintain their perspective on life and work.
