People Are Feeling Pretty Good About Business in 2018 So Far

Stocks have been up and down, but most people still are feeling pretty positive about the health of their company.

The latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably shows that 59% of people say their business outlook is either “fantastic” or “good” for 2018. Another 24% say their future outlook is “average,” while 17% say their outlook is “poor” (11%) or “awful” (6%).

Men and women share nearly identical outlooks for their companies, with about a third saying they feel good about what’s to come.

African Americans not impressed

From an ethnicity perspective, African Americans were the group least happy with the outlook for their business: 22% say they see it being “poor” or “terrible,” and another 27% say it will be “average.” Fifty-one percent say “fantastic” or “good.”AA

Caucasians were most optimistic: 15% say the business outlook will be “awful” or “poor,” 23% say “average,” and 62% say “fantastic” or “good.”

Looking at it by age

Of all workers, those 46 to 50 were most optimistic about business outlook in 2018: 58% say their outlook is “fantastic” or “good” (fantastic was the No. 1 answer for them, with 36% of the vote).
