What interview questions does Purina ask?
Can't remember but if one utilizes STAR approach they should be good, barring above mentioned handicaps
What's the interview process like at Purina?
Nit very progressive, subject to the culture and conservatism of those in the region in which you may interview. It seemed to be a top down edict from the VP and zone director. The manager had some discretion as long as the interviewee fit the personal ( not professional) profile that they wanted.
What part of Purina's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
When I was there Rx or Veterinary Diets and supplements were growing fast. Specialty channel was having some issues.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Purina?
Get rid of the ultra conservative culture that was exclusive of black people that are qualified to perform the job. 9 years there I was one of only 2 black sales person in the US and Canada. Regardless of our performance, we were never slated for promotions. Perform poorly but be Gay and Italian, promoted within 1st year of hire.
What do people at Purina think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
If he's not already, which I doubt, the CEO needs to drive the management to be fair with regard to their Hiring practices (at least regarding their sales team)
How's the work life balance at Purina?
Depends on if they like you. Once they had a change in my regional management, tgey could care less about your work-life balance. They harassed me daily for on thing or another although I on avg exceeded HPT (high performance targets) and all but 1 year of 9 had double digit volume and $$ growth.
How does Purina make decisions around promotions?
Promotions are based on race age and sex. Unless they changed which I doubt. You can match or out perform someone your entire time there and be deliberately overlooked based on the mode factors in my experience there.
How's the vacation policy at Purina?
It's a good policy you earn days as you continue to work, where they'll role over until you max at about 6 weeks. Once you are at maximum vacay earning days get replenished almost as quickly as you use them.
