Matt Godfrey is president of ABF Freight®, an ArcBest® company and one of the nation’s largest, most trusted less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers. With a deep knowledge of freight operations gained from 20 years at the company, a focus on innovative technology and a dedication to customer experience, Matt is advancing ABF’s growth and profitability. As President of ABF Freight, Matt champions ABF’s Quality Process, promoting a commitment to excellence and a culture of safety for our people, facilities, equipment and customers’ freight.
Matt joined the company in 2004 as an ABF Management Trainee. Since that time, he has gained extensive knowledge and experience serving in various pivotal roles, including operations supervisor, account manager, service center manager and regional vice president, before being promoted to Vice President of Engineering in 2021. In August 2024, Matt was appointed President of ABF Freight.
Under Matt’s guidance, ABF’s optimization efforts have significantly improved capacity and delivered customer value. His vision for continuous improvement and commitment to excellence have driven strategic initiatives such as ABF City Route Optimization, which optimizes how shipments are routed in our ABF network to increase capacity and enhance efficiency in our city operation. Matt’s leadership has also been instrumental in ABF’s facility enhancement and growth roadmap — building efficiencies and creating better experiences for ABF employees and customers.
