Charles Bruce Simmons Jr. — Partner at Alston & Bird

Mr. Charles Bruce Simmons is a Partner at Alston & Bird LLP. Mr. Simmons is the Partner-in-Charge of the Charlotte office and a Partner in the Capital Markets Group. His practice concentrates on capital markets transactions, corporate finance transactions, leveraged capital financings, credit facilities, private equity transactions, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and general corporate matters. He is a Member of Board of Directors of Cayenne Oil & Gas, LP and Peoria Field Investments, LLC. His expertise covers multiple industry segments, including telecommunications (cellular, PCS and satellite), software, chemicals, information services, internet, health care, broadcasting services, consumer products and manufacturing of many types. He has represented both buyers and sellers in the negotiation and closing of numerous capital markets and merger and acquisition transactions along with the financings required to accomplish them. He has also represented numerous venture capital clients in the making of private equity investments in portfolio companies, including Wachovia Capital Partners, Bank of America Capital Investors and Columbia Capital Corporation, among others. His practice has also included several joint ventures, as well as recapitalization and restructuring transactions. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1987 and his B.A. degree in Economics/Political Science, summa cum laude, from Yale University in 1984, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the North Carolina and American Bar Associations. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of the Carolinas and on the Queens University Law School Advisory Committee.
