Jay Bourland — Senior Vice President of Engineering at Alteryx

Dr. Jay Bourland has been Senior Vice President of Engineering at Alteryx, Inc. since May 2016. Dr. Bourland serves as the Group Technology Officer of Southbank Systems Limited. Prior to Alteryx, Dr. Bourland was the Senior Vice President and General Manager, Customer Communications at Pitney Bowes Software, where he led efforts to develop new technologies to enhance customer interactions. He served as the Group Technology Officer of Pitney Bowes MapInfo Business Applications Limited. Prior to this, from 2002 to 2007, Dr. Bourland served as Group Technology Officer of Pitney Bowes Software Inc. (formerly, Group 1 Software) and was in charge of technology for Group 1 Software's Business Geographics Division, where he worked to improve the product line and shape its future. Before joining Group 1 Software, he spent four years with Sagent Technology, where he gained a deep understanding of how customers use and interact with enterprise software as both a Senior Product Manager and senior professional services engineer. His work included projects to open software products for use by developers and adding web services capabilities. Dr. Bourland spent two years as a professional services engineer with qualitative marketing software. His past experience includes several years in academia at the University of Washington, Stanford University and Colorado State University and he has published 12 academic papers in the area of nonlinear oscillations and waves. He is a 20-year computer and technology industry veteran. Dr. Bourland holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He also holds M.S. and Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University in Applied Mathematics.
