Amara Mission & Values

For over 90 years, Amara has been providing services to families and children impacted by foster care and adoption. Throughout our history we have developed innovative programs to meet these changing needs. Our mission is to ensure that every child in foster care has the love and support of a committed family as quickly as possible - and for as long as each child needs. We do this through our three programs: our two Emergency Sanctuaries which provide a ""soft landing"" for children recently removed from their homes for their own safety; our Foster Care Services which license and support foster families; and our Post-Adoption Services which provide services and support to adoptees, adopted families and birth families through their life-long adoption journey. Amara is an independent, nonprofit in the State of Washington and was formerly known as Medina Children's Services.
