Jay M. Cohen — Senior Vice President at Assurant

Mr. Jay M. Cohen has been Senior Vice President of Assurant, Inc. since August 25, 2008 and served as its Chief Compliance Officer. Hon. Cohen has over 30 years of experience and has extensive legal and compliance background, combined with his proven expertise in implementing corporate compliance, data privacy and regulatory management programs for companies. Prior to joining Assurant, Hon. Cohen was the Global Compliance Leader and Chief Privacy Officer at The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation (D&B). He also led compliance teams at The MONY Group Inc., Oxford Health Plans and Prudential Insurance Company of America. Hon. Cohen served as Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of The MONY Group Inc. since January 6, 2003. He also served as Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Mony Life Insurance Co. of America. Earlier in his career, Hon. Cohen held a number of positions in City and State Law Enforcement, including as a Prosecutor in the Brooklyn (NY) District Attorney's Office and Deputy Commissioner and Counsel of the New York City Department of Investigation. He was most recently a Practicing Attorney and Compliance Consultant, where he focused exclusively on helping companies design and implement state-of-the-art compliance programs. Hon. Cohen served as a Director of Mony Life Insurance Co. of America. He is a Member of the Ethics Officer Association and also a Member of the New York State Bar. Hon. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.
