Dr. David Goldstein, Ph.D. has been Chief Adviser of AstraZeneca PLC since September 29, 2016. Dr. Goldstein is renowned for his research on human genetic diversity, the genetics of disease and pharma co genetics and will be responsible for driving the scientific progress of AstraZenecas genomics initiative, created to transform drug discovery and development across the entire research and development pipeline. He serves as Director of the Institute for Genomic Medicine, John E. Borne Professor and Professor of Genetics and Development at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Goldstein served as the Director of Discovery Genomics and Director for Human Genome Variation Center at Duke Clinical Research Institute. Dr. Goldstein served as Director of the Center for Human Genome Variation at Duke University. Dr. Goldstein is Professor of molecular genetics & microbiology at Duke University, North Carolina. He is Professor at The Richard and Pat Johnson Distinguished University. From 1999 to 2005, he was Wolfson Professor of Genetics at University College London. Dr. Goldstein is the author of more than 150 scholarly publications in the areas of population and medical genetics. His work focuses on the genetics of human disease and treatment response, with a concentration on neuropsychiatric disease and host determinants of response to infectious diseases. Dr. Goldstein has been a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Knome, Inc. since January 9, 2012. He is the recipient of one of the first seven nationally awarded Royal Society/Wolfson research merit awards in the UK, and was awarded the Triangle Business Journal Health Care Heroes Award in 2008 for his work on host determinants of control of HIV-1. He has published over 250 papers in the field. Dr. Goldstein received his PhD in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1994.
